The fuck were they thinking?

The fuck were they thinking?

101.63 million consoles worldwide and cucking microsoft and sony with a PS2 with a shaking stick, this is what they were thinking?

They were thinking
> Let's sell 100 million units

arguably the best console to softmod and play emulators on with a gamecube controller

>hey you guys wanna have some fun

>Shovelware: the console
Thank god those hacks making licensed crap went to mobile.

Unironically has the best lineup of 1st party titles out of any Nintendo console

I never bought a nintendo console after that. I hate the wii. I don't want to move my obese arms.

Based

Nintendo Gamecube:
> Luigi's Mansion
> Sunshine
> Pikmin
> Double Dash!!
> Paper Mario: TTYD
> Metroid Prime
> WindWaker
> Twilight Princess
> Super Smash Brothers Melee

And those are the ones off the top of my head. Gamecube has by far the best 1st party titles on any console, maybe ever.

They were thinking in a great console

So why the fuck havent you bought the damn thing then!?

The poor purple console gave out a couple years ago, it made it 15 years. I'm still going through the Gamecube library on the Dolphin Emulator

>Let's make better and unique games, more than the competition, and sell more units.
Seriously, have you seen what is worth playing on a PS3 or Xbox 360 on 2020? Not much, yet there are a ton of excellent Wii games to play

Why the fuck did motion controls have to die with the Wii, we'll never have proper light gun arcade ports again or stuff like Samba de amigo without expensive custom controllers

>Sony and Microsoft implement motion controls years later in an awkward manner; nobody buys them
>Activision/EA shit out Guitar Hero + Rock Band + Tony Hawk's RIDE peripherals every year
>even Nintendo messes it up by doubling down on gimmicks with Wii U's touchpad controller
the simplicity of the Wii Remote was its biggest strength, but then everyone tried to push it too far. damn shame too, I'd kill for IR controls to have a dedicated platform again.

Better resolution

Shovelware doesn’t count as excellent games. If you look that the list of all of the top games to come out during that gen, 99% of them are 360/PS3 games that didn’t even come to Wii.

>all the dog shit on that list
>no S&P2

The Wii had loads of hidden gems. Not nearly as much as the DS, but still quite a lot. I remember having 50+ games on my HDD.
Also, play Trauma Team.

To be fair whenever you have a console that leads by that much you always have a ton of shovelware. Just like the Gameboy, GBA, DS, PS1 and PS2. Lets not even talk about mobile.

>revision 28th February 2009
user, you're better than this.

>no Trauma Team
Shit list. It's got 6 distinct gameplay styles including full-on Phoenix Wright-styled investigations

>lets make the best analog console of all time

You’d probably like the 3DS and switch then. They dropped that shit like a sack of wet turds.

Probably something like
>We are about to make a shitton of money

...

>shit list with shit reasoning
>missing a laundry list of good games like Madworld

ok but why post such a horribly out of date image in the first place?

shit idk maybe it's all he had
here, have one of the two(?) i've got

Then you should've posted a better list.

Because I downloaded the wrong pic from the Zig Forums wiki, my bad
thanks

i did
keep up nigga

They were thinking
"holy shit it prints money"

The shovelware complaint is the dumbest shit, honestly. Just don’t play those games. Play Pandora’s Tower instead.

>fun party games
>great single player games
>great multi player games
I don't get why people on Zig Forums keep trying to shit on the Wii. It's a good console.

I’m an idort but the Wii U gamepad is good. Underutilized by it’s library maybe, but really shines when it’s used well. Comfy to hold too.

Haruhi had a Wii game?

Nintendo wanted to go for motion controls since they already planned for motion-controlled games for their next console after the GCN.
Eventually they focused on a target audience that was compatible for everyone. It was simply an overclocked Gamecube with gimmick controls and a shovelware library. Of course, there are some hidden gems in the console's library that are good.
Then came the Wii U, which they failed because of the the name, and also the lack of marketing that formerly boosted the Wii for its motion controls.
The Switch finally became their next sucessful device after the failure of the Wii U, as handheld devices have become more popular since 2015. So Nintendo was smart enough to dive into that market.

Thanks, Wikipedia.
