I'm not going to read anything else in this thread, because I haven't finished yet and I'm avoiding spoilers, but:
I haven't noticed any "SJW shit" in the game at all.
It's very much based on Spelunky 1's foundation; nothing revolutionary, nothing that pushes the roguelite genre forward.
But it's the Spelunky I love with all-new areas, enemies, traps, items, secrets, etc. That's everything I needed and wanted, and I've been enjoying it a ton.

It won't be remembered in quite the same breath as the original, but it definitely deserves the 9/10s it's getting, and you won't regret playing it.

Its amazing how so many Zig Forums users can be in collective denial about deliberate SJW changes.

The game is filled to the brim with ugly, strong poc/non gender conforming female characters, many of whom you unlock early.

Damsels turned into pets. The original damsel is now a strong female character.

All the cavemen, tribesmen, hired hands, shopkeepers? All white males. Killing white men is the objective to win this game.

But Zig Forums is a massive joke.

I really don't see the problem, everybody used the dog back in one and the female designs in two are cool and interesting, it's not like there isn't an equal number of strong male characters

This, the 4 starter characters are brave young woman, strong black woman, funny scaredy male nerd and funny animal. This should be a huge red flag already.

Is there a reason to play Spelunky over Spelunky classic other than the visual changes? I've never played Spelunky before.

HD controls way better than classic and has more content
classic is still worth checking out though

I don't even care that much about if the game is woke or not. Some of the gameplay changes are more annoying to me, but like why the hell are people trying to deny it? It wears it's wokeness on it's sleeve, I'm just surprised there isn't a hidden trans flag somewhere.

yeah, i played it for a second and even though I'm well used to the usual freeware zxc control scheme, it does feel a little clunky to adjust to. I might stick with it for now, at least until a sale for spelunky 1 comes around.
