It’s really good. That being said, I feel its a tad overdone and only elicits the emotions it does because it’s a nostalgia trip and the remake is 20 years in the making. Take the Those Who Fight track at the end of Chapter 2 or the Airbuster or the final phase of the JENOVA fight. They only work because they escalate at the end and you’re like “sheeit, this is more like it”. That shit wouldn’t even work if you hadn’t played the original a million times and didn’t have an expectation for how those songs should sound. And in a way, that just makes their usage in the original feel more honest and timeless. I don’t think they surpassed it or made the original obsolete

The boss battle theme aka airbuster theme is amazing tho
I only wished the first part lasted longer but the way it connects with each phase is great specially the last part with the guitar riffs

While I agree to a certain level, some of the new tracks also got me hyped as fuck to almost the same heights because they were just genuinely good IMO.

I like the Remake ost and, of course, the original one. I believe that OWA is, perhaps, the best Final Boss theme of all time. But this game doesn't shit on 99% of videogames ost wise. Not even close. I accept your concession.
