What the FUCK was his endgame?

>LOL ITEM DESCRIPTIONS
No. There was no endgame, there was no story. It was just cryptic nonsense that people decided to latch onto for some reason.

How mad are you?

Scholar here.

Short answer is we don't know. Secondary short answer is usher in an age of dark. Actual short answer is find a dark lord (different, because by 3 he's less worried about an age of dark and more worried about making a suitable dark lord.)

Everything else requires extensive discussion. Especially about WHY he wants them.

It's a reference to the creation story i am sure of it. dark souls is a very occult themed game. I have surface level knowledge of the occult view of the creation story and mans enlightenment and dark souls blew me away with the subtle references to ideas very similar to that mixed in with conspiracy theories.

>serpent tempts man, gets them to ignore the will of the gods for their own interest
>"gods" keep man and their societies in check making sure they dont get too strong
>genocide societies that threaten to become real competition to the gods

The whole game takes themes from european and christian myth.

The covetous serpent ring says that snakes are imperfect dragons. I always assumed that the primordial serpents were born of the dark like hollows were born of the dark, and want to rule as the everlasting dragons ruled, except over the dark.

He's a slimey boi who likes dark holes.
He wants everyone to have a dark hole in their chest for him to slime himself into.

Were the primordial serpents dead by ds3? I know there’s statues

>They failed me, every last one of them.
>They were strong, but saw not the truth.
>I am certain that you will prove different.
What did he mean by this?

scholar again. don't want to do a trip.

kaathe is dead according to the JP yuria text, where she says she failed his last wish.

ludleth drops a soul feeder ring, which might very well be a serpent. it doesn't have to be frampt.

>The covetous serpent ring says that snakes are imperfect dragons. I always assumed that the primordial serpents were born of the dark like hollows were born of the dark, and want to rule as the everlasting dragons ruled, except over the dark.

Very solid head canon that honestly can't argue unless you get into weird tinfoil. tinfoil possibilities include an age of dark mostly actually being an age of ancients, or the idea that they're just really really hungry. Maybe it's less about rule, and it's moreso about how their species eats or procreates (snakes are more than just imperfect dragons and a symbol for gluttony btw)

snakes are also symbols of the undead, the oroboros loop, they also greatly resemble man and humanity. watchdragon parma in ds2 says they watch over the ebb and flow of time.

I don't need any, everything I just said is proven or common conjecture. I'm not going to say batshit stuff here without saying it's batshit.

look up yuria's JP dialogue.

look up the soulfeeder description, specifically, look at the image. Also realize serpents smell bad, and those barbels on the skull look different than on any other skull ring, so it's very likely that's intentional. So it might very likely be a serpent.

Doesn't really matter. He's a snake, and snakes like to fuck shit up.

sorry, should be clear if people are going to check my sources.

it's the skull ring in ds3.

Are you sure that's a serpent? It looks like a skull to me.

there have been multiple attempts at a dark lord before. Ignoring all other possibilities (like manus for instance), a definitive "previous failure" was the four kings and his dark wraiths. The four kings became overcome with greed.

This is either a way to cover up the fact that he corrupts everyone he talks to, or a sad admission that everybody fails him.

That you're not the first guy he's suckered into doing his dirty work.

serpents as dark dragons? woah

Kalameet was a dark dragon. The primordial serpents are more like degenerate cousins to the dragons that were spawned out of the darkness along with the hollows

the cheeks are an intentional design choice. observe, this takes multiple posts.

I never said I was sure (i'm never sure of jack shit), I said this is a possible theory and one of the most probable answers to what a "soulfeeder" is. this isn't me, this is a very common reddit ass theory and probably one of the best guesses. otherwise best guess for a soulfeeder as a creature is a crystal lizard or something. it would have to be something that eats souls. souls are what stink.

here's the item desc
"One of Courland's transposed wonders. Derived from the soul of a Soulfeeder.
Easier to be detected by enemies.
The Soulfeeder was a beast that insatiably absorbed souls to feed its own power. Even after its accursed corpse was burned, it is said that the pungent stench of souls left the air permanently stained."

This is what a normal skull on a ring looks like btw.

What was the point of the Serpents anyway? Were they even necessary? When you think 'Dark Souls' this retard is the last on your mind

Attached: silly snake.jpg (663x715, 353.17K)

It's not fucking fair. Why do people get to kill serpents off-screen and not us?

Pretty based.
They're just a mythological thing to add mystique to the first game. They're presented well, but were never fully thought out. It's ultimately one of the weaker parts of Dark Souls the more you think about it. DSII and III were better for focusing on more human motivations.

To introduce the idea that there is a faction at work pulling the strings behind all of your actions, even more powerful/insidious than the gods, that has its' own agenda that may not necessarily align with yours, and you are their puppet.

The 4kings did exactly what Kaathe wanted them to do, though, get stronk with lifedrain and overthrow the gods

>reddit ass theory
Why do Americans put "ass" in between their words?

You made an ass ass post.

Illuding the player into thinking the game is jerking you off as the Chosen One when in reality you're just a complete fool of a tool
