Game's pretty fine at its core, but some fans are annoyed at the amount of RPG elements added to it like villager/trader relationships, enchanting and defined objectives.
You can ignore all that if you just want to go to the middle of nowhere and terraform to your heart's content, but that caves update is a longs way from us, so if you're looking for that you're in for a long wait. Or you can just download mods that do most of the things advertised, because these Minecraft devs are way too slow and careful for their own good

I've been playing it on and off with a Pokemon mod. It's pretty fun if you like exploration and building.

I like Steve's kit, I just dont like how he looks in Smash. So jarring. But that can be charming, if you think of it as such. Just looks like a placeholder character that was going to get more animations, but didn't Just like Steve proper

Well the Minecraft addition was a smart one because it's a huge deal that tapped into an otherwise untargeted demographic.

The other BIG DEAL newsworthy characters that I think have any shot (though I still dont think would be as big a deal as Steve):

I quit Ultimate mostly because of a combination of things. I was planning on going to a bunch of local tournaments to improve and become the best Falcon in my region, but the combination of no balance patches until DLC, terribly fucking hellish awful online and the lack of offline practice and THEN corona was all just too much.

I have fun playing it casually too, but it just feels like a fucking circus at this point, too. Honestly feels like they only give a fuck about printing some extra cash with these weird and random DLC picks. Doesn't feel like Smash anymore, really. I'll wait for the next one at this point, Ultimate is legitimately one of the most underwhelming games right now, not much to do or talk about, no competitive scene (corona + shit online) or any major balance changes or fixes. It's literally just a DLC simulator right now, which sucks.
