>game has a whole culture of "lore analysis" videos and youtubers covering content and story by piecing together fragments of shit writing
Game has a whole culture of "lore analysis" videos and youtubers covering content and story by piecing together...
How is bonbi doing? Did he give birth already?
>the game needs to explicitly detail the mechanics of the plot and backstory for it to be good
Autism was a mistake. Why can't they understand themes and symbolism?
>game has a whole culture of "lore analysis" videos and youtubers covering content and story for a series that presents its story and worldbuilding in a very straightforward and normal manner
>literally only intended for internet-addicts that haven't actually played any of the games
>They only keep getting bigger in popularity
"Archaeological" story telling is the best way to tell a story in a videogame. Especially as far as replayability is concerned. You can't convince me otherwise.
In those cases I know the game isn't for me.
My types of games have YouTube videos made titled "Everything wrong with [game]" or "How nothing in [game] makes sense"
why cant anyone write a cohesive story with well defined characters?
>4channer posts reaction pics of underage ecelebs
Because A -> B progression of stories and motivations leave no room for interaction, speculation, or reflection. You might as well state the thesis outright. If there is no thesis and the story is just "cool shit happened" than it might as well not be there.
It's just another symptom of Western degeneracy. Nobody is actually interested in reading, so they look up "lore videos" and "explained videos" in order to understand the literal, diegetic text. Nobody understands subtext or themes or subtlety anymore.
One of the most disgusting videos on Youtube right now, at least for me personally, is Annihilation - Explained. It perfectly encapsulates how legitimately stupid and vacuous the modern human is. Nobody is interested in the underlying themes and subtext of Annihilation, they just want to know "lol why did the alien monster do the weird crazy thing at the end? Lmao this is so weird lol". People don't think for themselves, they need to be told what happens in a story. Fuck, there are people that literally just look up plot synopsis' on Wikipedia instead of reading classic books.
I can promise you, you're going to see shit like Evangelion - Explained in the next few years.
Do you realize that the vast majority of the kind of games you're describing has actually good writing with normal writing techniques of tying pieces together and that those videos are literally made due to the dumbest players who can't grasp a single hint of something not directly thrown at their face with flashing lights?
it's literally no different than those "10 INCREDIBLE SMALL DETAILS YOU PROBABLY DIDN'T NOTICE IN MOVIE X" and then it's 9 obvious things anyone with a functioning brain noticed straight away and 1 slightly smaller detail that anyone smarter than a mobile game player would pick up anyway.
If you consider these game as having bad writing that needs those videos to be understood, then you're one of those dumb people who can't follow a story unless it's entirely linear and with no hidden or slightly deviated plot lines.
It can go one of two ways
>The story-telling is actually good and this is just dumbing it down for children and people who don't have the fucking game
>The story-telling is trash and they're grasping at straws and trying to make shit up that makes it sound more impressive than it really is.
Okay. But dark souls games are comfy.
Shin Megami Tensei
sure it does, that is what puzzles are, you solve them in order to progress a story
it just seems to me that no one can write worth a damn and suffer goopy goblin brain
What did he mean by this?
I agree, which is why i said the vast majority of those game and not all.
most games OP is talking about are the first example while the rest is the second, like MGS...i was about to say V, but most MGS games are full of deus ex machina and other convoluted aspect that are there for the sake of being convoluted and nothing else.
another good example of awful writing is death stranding, and its fucking characters' names
this, if you cant follow some basic plot line just go back playing dukenukem or something
Because that's boring
No Dark Souls legitimately just has bad writing. The world building is typical, the villains are generic, it's the most bog-standard fantasy world I've seen in my life. It's just another Tolkein ripoff but this time you randomly rip out pages and "figure the story out for yourself".
where did i mentioned dark souls?
dark souls has bad writing, nowhere i said it doesn't, i didnt even mention it
dumb fucking bonbiposter
Gremlin brain is the future, old man
>evangelion - explained in the next few years
Was this post written in 2006
And it's mostly nomura or jrpg garbage
>It's just another Tolkein ripoff but this time you randomly rip out pages and "figure the story out for yourself".
Bro....
Wow she is crazy hot
>woah dude it's so deep they wrote a shitty novella and carved it up into item descriptions for no reason
>dude I play X for the story
Story in games was a mistake
>Reddit spacing
I don't have to read a single and I can tell that your post is probably arguing why it's a good that the community has it and that writing for games are good. You need to leave, preferable soon.
Schizo, people writing and publishing their theories on fictional works is not a new thing.
The last two are the worst part about it.
I love Dark Souls but the absolute autism it has created and the fanbase where 90% of people didn't even play the game but just watch lore videos is fucking insane.
Who is this? Beautiful face.
Using item descriptions is to tell a "story" is a feature that people jerk off the souls series for some reason you dense fuck
Are tiktok threads no allowed on /wsg/ anymore? I'm guessing because of pedophile stalkers of young girls like bonbi?
I'm curious because that means we're never getting a containment board for vtubers/celebs
who is she hnghh ?
