Should I play the "Original" graphics or Anniversary? I know about the OG graphics being fucked up.
Should I play the "Original" graphics or Anniversary? I know about the OG graphics being fucked up
even fucked up OG looks better than trash Anniversary
play it on the original xbox with a crt tv, its the only way to properly enjoy halo 1
This.
Anniversary is a mixed bag. Very kino in some areas, totally kills the vibe in others.
Silent Cartographer being the peak and 343 Guilty Spark being the dip.
dis nigga is playing on a fucking oscilloscope wtf
Anniversary can be fine once or twice, and also to give the game a fresh look if you've already played it a couple of times.
OG always looks better, and also the OG graphics being "fucked up" is just hyper autists complaining of 5 or 6 things not looking identical to the OG release like Keyes face, a bit of fog or reflections, it really is just autistic people, even worse for whoever talks trash to 2A, that one is one of the best looking remakes out there.
2A is the peak of Halo to me IMO. Just a shame that 3 didn't get the same treatment. I'd kill to see 3's cutscenes done by Blur.
I think Anniversary graphics are generally fine as long as can apperciate that it's less a faithful update of CE's original visual design, and more applying the then-current visual design of Halo media to CE's levels and geometry, which can still be fun as it's own thing.
The real problem is the leverl 343 Guilty Spark, where the anniversary visuals outright ruin the atmosphere.
Really, though, there's no reasn you HAVE to do just one or the other: You can switch graphics in real time as you play, after all, so just do that whenever you wanna see the visuals change, as long as at least on 343 Guilty Spark you stick to mostly old graphics.
Anyways, OP, I wrote up with spoiler free info about each game in the series and what they do good and bad here:: arch.b4k.co
its just contrarian fags, halo 2 is my favourite game of all time i played the shit out of it as a kid and the anniversary graphics are phenomenal and improve drastically on the original. although h1a felt pretty lazy with the reuse of so much reach assets that ruined the atmosphere in some levels like 343 guilty spark where the level is so bright when it should be dark and ominous. the good thing is though because of h1a not being as well received as the remaster team would have liked, they took the feedback and made h2a which managed to be basically perfect, maybe except for the ost but thats because of microsoft being faggots and not letting marty help the audio team
The transition from CE original to 2 Anniversary is unexpectedly smooth. The fidelity is a massive upgrade but in terms of art-direction and tone, CE Anniversary is so overly vibrant and cartoon-esque that it is more jarring.
I agree CLassic graphics CE's broken shaders in MCC is overstated and is mostly minor shit nobody would notice if they didn't know better, but the broken bump mapping is a legimately pretty major visual issue.
It hurts my soul that we never got a faithful graphical rendering of CE Chief like we got for the Mark VI.
Something looks super off about the CEA armor.
Halo 2A is so fucking sexy it kills me the potential Halo has, and how bad 343 is to make a BEAUTIFUL halo game, I love the MP too but I am just perplexed on why they don't use the anniversary models/textures, its a lot of fun so I don't mind the artstyle, but it'd give it an extra spice and maybe give more reason for more people to play 2A, so autistic "muh arstyle" niggers can stop winning about it looking like H4
I don't mind anniversary graphics at all, it's literally a side upgrade you can OPTIONALLY play with, and you can change it in a second just by pressing a button, it amazes me how somehow 343 is so exceptional at making remakes of 1 and 2 while shitting the bed so much in making their own games, even as weird as CE looks with Reach graphics, it is still one of the most faithful remaster/remakes in the past decade
Being able to just go back to the OG style in 1080p 60FPS is an amazing feature that more remasters/remakes should have, and the little problems like collisions or gemoetry really aren't as bad as people say, even in legendary I've had my shooting interrupt by it, you just have to adjust slightly. It really is just a bit anoying in the banshee sections, I don't think they had playtesters fly the banshees in Two Betrayels/AotCR
Was about to forget that, this, for people who played Reach before and the such, CEA can look off because of the massive reuse of assets with Reach, what's worse is MCs tiny arms what the fuck happened there holy shit. Then if anything, there is little details, like fucking up the first flood reveal which is the biggest and most impactful twist on all Halo, just because of that I always recommend everyone to AT LEAST play in OG graphics first
And yeah, after that they fucking nailed H2A so it was worth it in the end, the only point autistic contrarians make is not having the original sundtrack, but its al in the clasic graphics, even BmA and follow
OG. There's invisible walls in areas where they edited stuff in in the new one and they ruin the atmosphere of some horror/claustrophobia levels. They make everything way too bright which removes the point of the flashlight.
that's really only a problem in 343 Guilty Spark
OG graphics just purely because the original game has the vibe of exploring the Windows XP wallpaper and the anniversary remake is a cartoon.
h2a multiplayer is so busy graphics wise, its hard to even see people, i would literally have enemy players walk past me because of how much shit is on the screen. it pisses me off because the gameplay is decent but i would have loved to have the campaign graphics instead of the halo 4 asset port abortion they gave us
the problem people have with it is that microsoft could have actually fixed the shit port gearbox did but instead they said fuck it and used the gearbox port as a base for the remaster. i doubt it would have even costed that much to port an xbox game from 2001 with all the source code and assets archived, plus all the resources that microsoft can give the team.
LEDS EVERYWHERE Anniversary is the truest way to play Halo now, fuck boomers
It's clearly not that simple to fix the gearbox port, even the Halo CE modding community hasn't been able to resolve everything and they are turbo autists who have been modding the game for 2 decades.
MCC DOES actually fix some of the shaders and animation issues, just not all of them
I disagree, H2A MP is by far my favorite aeshetic in the series, I think it's gorgous
the halo community doesnt have the source code, if they did a proper port could be made faster than microsoft ever could, all they can do is shitty work arounds
>Going to play through all the Bungie campaigns now ODST is out
>Want to play the Refined mod to do CE
>But want the cheevos and completion from the MCC version
I wish I could defeat my own autism. What should I do.
m8 the CE modding toolkit basically IS the sourcve code, isn't it?
Just what I was saying, H2A is even the best game for the MCC customs and forge wide for the most part, its a damn shame it has the ugly Halo 4 artstyle. Some weapons were modified to not look so fucked, but I wish more weapons would look like the campaign iteration.
He is talking about H2A MP, not the campaign, H2A SP is honestly one of the best looking console games out there, ironically.
Custom Edition mods is just literally Assembly editing.
You see those mods when someone makes a warthog faster in real time in MCC, or back then when they made the Seraph drivable?
It's just that times a times a million, like Bungie and 343 newer Halo games, it's literally miles and miles of spaghetti code piled on top of another pile of spaghetti code.
Ok, let's get this clear.
For someone playing the games for the first time, in WHAT order should they do it?
ODST can totally be played as a bridge between 2 and 3, and Reach could be played before or after the triology.
I think reading Halsey's Journal, then playing Reach, then plaing CE, 2, ODST and 3 is the best experience possible.
Halsey's Journal is awesome for worldbuilding and IMO is basically an improved version of TFoR. Reach is better for the context from the journal, and establishes the mood of the war, the hoplessness of humanity and establishes the Covenant as villains very firmly.
ODST is a nice pacing break between 2 and 3, and acts as a really good bridge.
I disagree. I played the Refined mod and I was actually shocked at how much more soulful the game feels.
* Additional thoughts I forgot to add.
Having the Covenant be these totally alien, unknown force of opposition in the journal, Reach and then CE makes the introduction of their society and politics hit WAY harder in 2.
Similarly 3 is a much better finale of the series than Reach, and the feeling of conclusion with the war finally ending with all that context behind it is way more impactful than if you do Reach last.
Read the book instead of playing the shit game then play the trilogy and ODST instead
