what do you think of the New Super Mario Bros series?

The one you posted was also the best one. It was just too fun to wreck everything with Giant Mario.
The series kept feeling more and more like a corporate cash grab. especially the one on Wii.
I liked NSMB2. It was the first game I got when I bought my 3DS
they're alright.
Luigi U is my favourite out of the bunch.
If we're to see another 2D mario at some point, i'd like to see them branch out and do different themes. the artstyle doesn't have to be 2D or anything, just have themes that aren't grassland, desert, ice, jungle, etc since new themes can generate new level mechanics and obstacles.
I tried playing 2 on the 3ds yesterday and it just feels like Mario runs really slowly, it's surprisingly offputting
Is 3d land better? Is there any good 3d platformer on the 3ds?
>Is there any good 3d platformer on the 3ds?
Donkey Kong Returns is the only decent one. 3DS is known for having slow as shit action titles since it's only really a jrpg machine.
Very fun co-op games for consoles. The original one for DS was a godsend because it finally ended the monopoly on the mario series that the 3D collectionathon shit held on the franchise.
I'll give it a try, but I meant something more like Mario 64. Is there really nothing on the entire platform?
hopefully 3d world takes it over
A bunch of really solid platformers
Unfortunately, they can feel kinda samey since they all look and control identically, but it's only a small mark and one I feel the games get too much flak for
This was fun.

the handheld titles are great fun, despite the lack of content. The console titles are good, but they slowly get worse as you go forward in the timeline.
none of them are really super challenging until you get to the secret stages, and even then it's only a challenge if you're playing one-handed. I'd say play 1, 2, wii, and luigi U.
i'd also reccomending muting the game and playing your own muic because it gets old fast.
The first one was a nice new take on the series, plus the multiplayer maps and minigames were really fun
All of the later ones are just clones, but with less content. Really sad that this is what 2D Mario became
Your pic related had some fun local multiplayer
This game was pretty fun with how it had a 3d mario moveset in a 2d game
They're good, 2 and U get a lot of underserved flak while the first one got a pass for no reason.
U > Wii > DS > 2
2 gets shit because its main gimmick makes a game over so improbable that you're actually rewarded for maxing out the life counter, not to mention it was Nintendo's very first game with DLC. DS is straight up the easiest one though so all it really has going for it is being the first one. Wii and U are the ones where this series saw its best ideas.
They're very good platforms with plenty of content. Them looking similar and low variety in music are my main gripes. They're all worth playing.
Absolute lackluster and secondary in comparison to SMW and SMB3. Worse level design, worse world design, less content, fewer secrets, new mechanics are all finicky gimmicks and game flow breaking powerups. Literal disappointment.
>a jrpg machine
That has less worthwile JRPG titles than NDS. An SMT+Etrian Odyssey machine maybe.
I'm sad that this mode never returned to the series.
She could clean my bathroom any day... of course I'd have to kill her and hide the body after though.
What is it with Nintendo adding stuff and content to their games and then taking it out with the next installment? This has been running in their franchises for so long it can't just be a casual undersight.
2 is really boring
it's like an entire game of bonus stages
It's the same generic game every time with a random gimmick that doesn't even add that much
I can't really think of any of their games that don't have some kind of trade-off between entries.
NSMB DS was cool cause it was a new 2D Mario and I was 8
NSMB Wii was cool for multiplayer Mario but I didn't play much of it, kinda boring
NSMB 2 was fucking terrible
NSMBU had good level design and even better multiplayer with player 5 getting to be a fucking asshole
fun
i unironically think it's the best local multiplayer experience out there
Recently played 3D Land for the first time, it's fun to play and Mario feels good to control. It's like these 2D Mario games but the courses aren't restricted to the 2D plane and have some depth to them. Sometimes you'll platform with a top down perspective and with the 3D added it creates a nice feeling of being really high up and gives it that visual depth. Worth playing.
is false, there's also yoshi's wooly world.
