Are consoles holding back the true potential of the current gen?

yes but unironically

Keep seething.

Games will always be built for the minimum spec PC so no. Half life alyx is like the only game using the power of the PC

Consoles have been holding back games since the fucking nes

No but harddrives are

Yes. This is the only answer.

is that from Crysis 3? That game looked pretty good, but not all of it. Like, look at dude's clothing compared to his face.

No, the graphics race is.

No, companies are just lowering the bar significantly so they can hire women and minorities, time was no one would look at you without a CS Degree or equivalent, now all you need is an instgram of you pretending to code or a shitty deviantart-tier portfolio and you're in.

Not really, NES allowed you to have arcade levels of gameplay, BUT at the same time have games designed to last several hours.

Yes, but being held back graphically is the least of it. Generally the bigger issues are lack of RAM and processor speed.

Of course.

>pc fags STILL think the top image looks good

>all those baked in wrinkle textures
>facial model cant even create realistic facial wrinkles based on the type of expressions they make

yes if consoles didn't exist everyone in the world would automatically acquire 3k pc's that's just a fact.

>Like, look at dude's clothing compared to his face.
Crysis 3 had to be ported to the Xbox 360. They made a shitload of subtle compromises, but the game looks fantastic in motion. Fun fact -- Psycho's jacket doesn't have cloth physics. Instead, it has motion captured precanned physics. They basically blew a fan on the actor wearing a suit with little strips of cloth that also had mocap balls, so that his clothing flutters naturally in the wind.

I wish C3 had sold better so we would have gotten C4 by now.

Graphics peaked at PS3/360 era. Every “improvment” after that was useless.

Yes.

I'd rather everyone focus on better physics, AI, mechanics and overall better experiences than making textures look prettier.

The NES saved gaming suck a dick zoomer

Please say the comments are photo shopped? So they are happy with shitty visuals AND half frame rate? It would be 100% ok if they ran at 60fps, but you're lucky if you get a steady 30fps on consoles. They are only now aiming for 60fps again, but with an increase in price of the games. I'll keep roaming the seas.

No. PC is badly optimized because it isn't built for gaming, plus you have to spend tons of money to have a good PC. Consoles help with accessibility, and thus strengthen the market. A strong market means more games, as more people will try to get in. Simple.

Jobs are harder to get in this day and age than ever before, what kind of crack are you smoking

Anyone who played this already will be disappointed that all the enemies are in the same exact spot. So much for these games being difficult.

If there wasn't a NES, there wouldn't be fucking gaming for like 30 more years. It saved the gaming industry, moron.

The gun animations look like this, though. (I believe the designer behind C1-3's weapons works on the Doom series now.)

>PC isnt built for gaming
the absolute state of zoomers

I don't remember orcs in TLOU2

It isn't if you're not willing to pay 5000 for a graphics card or something like that. Not everyone lives in a basement and mooches off their parents and can afford something like that.

Get a real job.

I haven't played the last of us 2 yet but shitposters tried this shit with uncharted 4 too, you can go into photo mode and fuck up the lighting and make the game look awful

>I'd rather everyone focus on better physics, AI, mechanics and overall better experiences than making textures look prettier.
That's exactly what Crytek tried to do. But everyone bought Ubisoft's watered down open world Far Cry games instead. Kinda like how the Call of Duty games that ripped off Crysis 2 sold way better than Crysis 2 did.

>Arcade levels of gameplay
lel
The arcade ports on the system looked, sounded, and played like shit. The nes always was and always will be an underpowered piece of hardware marketed squarely twords casuals and children that have no real knowledge about video games.
>games designed to last several hours.
Padding out the clear time of your game to hide a massive ROM deficiency by reusing assets and adding instakill fuck you screens is not a good thing.

I have a real job and all of these guys have, we're just not willing to live our lives in service to the God of Gaming™

>believing nintendo's lies

Smells like poor in here.

Name a better system from the time that didn't cost 2000 dollars.

Seethe harder. Oh, what is that? It's the sound of the money flowing into Nintendo's coffers!

Absolutely

And fuck anyone who disagrees

Nah. Only weaklings buy graphics cards for 5000 bucks; real men buy 900 copies of the timeless masterpiece known as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
