980 still going strong. Haven't even had to OC but I did anyway. Was it the last high-end GPU with a moderate price-to-performance ration? I didn't pay much attention to the GPUs that came immediately after but all the more recent ones have insane price tags.

I have two old SLI'd Titan Xs
I'm not gonna fall for the SLI meme again. almost no game utilizes it properly for it to be worthwhile
I'm fully ready to get a 3090 but it's out of stock everywhere

I use two monitors.
both my display ports on the card have shorted out over the last couple years and now I'm using the DVI and HDMI.

Wait until AMD releases Big Navi in about a month. Rumors place it anywhere from barely being faster than the 3070 to beating the 3080 in price and performance, though smart money is on it being just shy of a 3080 while being cheaper. By then the hierarchy of GPU's will be settled until Nvidia does a mid-gen refresh for Ampere next year, since 10GB is barely enough for 4K at the moment.

If you're looking to buy used, wait until the 3070 drops or travel back in time to right after the Ampere announcement. All the high-end 20XX card took a beating in value and despite their poor value compared to the 10 series, you can probably snag a 2080 for about $400 or a 2070 for $300 in a few weeks time.
