Why is this game so boring
Why is this game so boring
you mean you can't figure out where to go?
This is possibly the most bland game I've ever played.
Play Environmental Station Alpha instead if you are looking to scratch the Metroid itch.
Because you aren't cut out for metroidvanias. Try call of duty.
Axiom Verge isn't a Metroidvania, though.
Thanks for the suggestion user, COD is a much better game
Yes it is. Don't be a troll.
AV is a Metroid-like, not a Metroidvania. It doesn't have RPG elements, which is what makes a Metroidvania.
By that logic most games people call metroidvanias aren't metroidvanias.
They're not. Those people are retarded.
Honestly, I think the designers were a little lazy. As far as I remember, there is no complex element on the game map, it is all made up of fixed tiles with enemies scattered around. There are no moving platforms, moving walkways, retracting bridges, etc ... They drew a map probably using Tiled, populated with enemies and that's it.
I stopped playing when I got the hookshot (as its physics reminds me of a bad flash game, I decided it was time to drop the game and spend my time on something better). I don't know if after that the guys tried to introduce something different in the game besides fixed tiles.
>The designers
It's one guy, user.
And you're right. They are just variations of the Super Metroid, most of the time. The "vania" part is totally superfluous since the only thing they inherited from Symphony of the Night are the same elements that already existed in Metroid.
Metroid didn't have levels ahrpeegee style stats
lol
It's generic indie trash, which means it copy pastes an actually good videogame, Metroid in this case, and makes it 100x blander and boring.
I'm having a hard time believing anyone in this thread even played the game.
In my opinion, Metroidvania is still a good term.
Metroid-like makes me expect ranged weapons and a setting on an alien planet.
SOTN-like makes me expect melee weapons and Dracula.
Despite their differences, they share a specific thing that actually draws people to the game, the exploration and acquiring abilities to unlock new areas. The two of them together describe it well.
Except that's wrong.
It's pretty good for a one-man project, but there's no fun combat and the meat of the game is *backtracking*. In order for a metroidvania to be good is to make backtracking NOT a slog, and to have fun weapons or combat.
Jesus Christ you're fucking autistic.
That's funny, because there's no fun combat in Metroid or Super Metroid. And the game isn't a Metroidvania. I don't see any Castlevania elements in it, do you?
Not an argument.
I thought all the gun mods were cool. Music was good and art was usually good too. The map / progression was a bit bland though
Well the protagonist is a fucking faggot
I got it for switch, played like 10 minutes and never played again - too boring.
I guess it's back to metroid for me.
Zig Forums used to slobber all over this game when it came out. Personally I was more of an ESA fan.
And yet somehow completely true. Huh.
It was decent, kinda bland bosses though. I think the sequel will be legit.
having "hunterxhunter isn't a shonen, it's a soft seinen" flashbacks here.
I played it. Didn't get 100% but close. I enjoyed it but most of the many weapons felt pointless.
