Kirby is a franchise that has had so few memorable games as a part of its main series that of course something like Air Ride is going to be remembered the most. At some point all Kirby games past 2005 or so blend together.

I downloaded it yesterday and it was shit.
Despite being a cancelled launch title for the N64 it ended up being an unpolished prototype for smash melee. Other than the characters being in, it has nothing to do with Kirby and there were better racing games such as Diddy Kong Racing and F-Zero.

The only Kirby canon is the Dreamland series. The rest are shitty spinoffs. Yes, that includes Superstar, since the clusterfuck of abilities removed any semblance of challenge and made every power to play pretty much the same.

Because it's just that, it's fun! It's like a playground you run around and explore and each time you go back you learn a little more about it, which makes it even better. Then throw in the events to spice things up and top it off with a grand finale to claim victory of your efforts from the city.

I wanna say it was the time that it came out played a big role in it. The random variables and numerous outcomes that play into the players luck and strategy. The varied landscape made it interesting to explore and fun to return to.

For being the same stage, there were lots of little secrets and places to get to for exploration, especially during some of the events like the item garage thing or finding Tac. Plus it's just a really fun map to fly around or crash into everything. I remember just playing "tag" with my cousins and still having a blast.

It's comfy but I lose interest pretty quickly. I think it's so comfy and aesthetically pleasing that people overstate how "fun" it supposedly is or how much discovery you can make in it. Like the memory or the idea of playing it is better than actually playing it.
