People need to stop treating the word Art like it's somehow indicative of quality. Something being 'art' is not a high bar and only requires creativity be applied in its production.
Video games are just a combination of the top 3
youtube.com
>this is considered art by academia
do you consider Citizen Kane as art?
do you consider Sharknado as art?
do you consider Lord of the Rings as art?
do you consider The Very Hungry Caterpillar as art?
do you consider Tetris as art?
do you consider Rocket League as art?
answer: all of the above are art
>THIS IS AMERICA
>DON'T CATCH YOU SLIPPING NOW
>THIS IS AMERICA
Truly a complex work of art, how can video games ever compare?
Artfags caused WWII.
you say it as if it were a bad thing
I like to think of that poem as one side of a phone conversation between a zookeeper and Animal Control.
I'm genuinely fucking floored at how effective that poem is, in comparison to all the academic garbage we're supposed to appreciate.
Just play indie game if you want artsy games
>see above...
Damn... how can we ever recover......
>film and music (normie trash) are dying because of covid
>books and vidya have become immortalized thanks to technology
>VISUAL NOVEL EXPERIENCE
We won lol
I find it funny that his image for literature has a bunch of scifi/fantasy shit.
i like how you just KNOW this guy got called a faggot in some game
Artfags need to be euthanized.
>do you consider Citizen Bane as art?
yeah pretty shit overrated movie to be quite honest
isn't this the same guy that kept sucking spec ops: the line's dick
>vidya will continue growing as an industry
>films will only ever be regulated to chink pandering garbage
Feels good man
>do you consider The Very Hungry Caterpillar as art?
Obviously
when will art be seen as video games?
Hopefully never. Artists are pretentious, self-absorbed, poseurs who love the smell of their own farts. I want them to stay as far away from my hobby as possible. Video games were better when they were made from top to bottom by autistic math nerds.
As long as videogames do not push neo-liberal/woke agendas or they dont commit to the law of less effort, they wont be seen as "art", which recently has been sharing the previously mentioned characteristics. "Art" nowdays is just a mix of social engineering and fast consumable garbage to pander to the ever diseased people who can only find temporal satisfaction and comfort when consuming such media. You probably wouldn't be surprised if i told you that for the last 20+ years, two men composed all of the latest hits on music and popular music. Fucking Documentaries, Science Books, and Audiologs are more art by merit of transmitting such beauty and truth of the world than modern "art" will ever be.
I seriously don't get the appeal of music. I don't get why people spend hours upon hours each day listening to what is essentially a bunch of loud noises. Is there something wrong with me?
Is there anything more childish than to claim your hobbies are somehow superior than others?
A medium is a medium, it's a tool, something to convey something.
Literature is one, music is one, film is one and videogames are another. To claim that there are lower and higher mediums is idiotic and shows a deep lack of understanding.
A person who understands how to use his medium's strengths to convey a message is a good writer/musician/film-maker/developer.
One that parrots other mediums because he feels inferior somehow is a misguided, or failed, writer.
Why in God's name would anyone want vidya to be seen as serious art?
I don't understand why people listen to music either. I think they like to listen to it in the background but I always find that distracting and at the end I feel like I wasn't able to fully pay attention to the music either.
Rain World is art, but no one outside of 4chink knows about it.
The cool sounds make me feel good and the lyrics have some cool sounding words too.
Just like with other mediums though, there isn't one reason. Some people play vidya for fun shooty bang bangs, some for deep RPG diving and some to masturbate. Same for film and literature.
honestly, the story of O.J deserved all the awards that This is America got
This. Art is simply the application and appreciation of craft beyond the utilitarian. Everything man made can be considered art when viewed with that lens, the term itself is not inductive of quality.
