They changed the matchmaking and healing system to cater to casuals.
Nothing wrong with having an uneven invasion happen from time to time, Dark Souls isn't supposed to be fair. And letting phantoms use Estus ruined the entire tension that comes from playing as a phantom, you're not as fragile and reliant on your host anymore and you don't have to play careful and thoughtful cause you can always heal up quick and easy.

it's not the game you like it's the time

>from time to time
If you're new to the game with its original balance, you're going to lose your first 20-30 invasions. There was nothing fun about that. Unless you played the game during the first few months after its initial release in 2011 then you will never get the intended invasion experience and something had to be done about that.

So what, being invaded is supposed to be the downside of going human form. Either don't go human, summon phantoms for help or get better at fighting other players.
What is the supposed """intended""" invasion experience according to you anyways? Because if you ask me the invader is supposed to be a danger to the host. Newfag gets his ass torn open? Good.

Lack of attention to detail
Didn't attempt to fix the lava area to be less shit

this.
people still dont gasp the illusion behind nostagia. live in the past faggot

>you can't be nostalgic for good things

>you're going to lose your first
welcome to dark souls, now get out nigger

Yes I will continue to live in the past because the future looks like pure shit.

The intended experience was supposed to be two players at equal progress trying out their wildly varied custom build on a human opponent. But that only existed for a short time, now it's just people who abuse the master key and shortcuts that they saw on YouTube to skip bosses and return to early levels with overpowered weapons and armor.

Exactly.
Don't even bother explaining to Zig Forumstards because they'll never understand. In their minds new is bad and change is bad no matter what.

its a barebones remaster for one, but when does a remaster ever "recapture the magic"?
perhsps for those that didnt play the original felt the same way playing dsr as you did playing the original back in 2011

What was the exact moment you realized Remastered was soulless?
For me it was it being able to use multiple humanity at once for Fair Lady. Utterly devoid of soul.
Of course I still did it one at a time in order to prevent infetterence.

My first Dark Souls actually, i really liked it. Bought it after i finished Bloodborne. Then moved on to DSII which was weird but i got through it, and now DSIII feels like "eh, i will probably finish this one day" it's really off for some reason. I don't hate it but DSI was by far the best DS.

the order determines your rating of souls games

>perhsps for those that didnt play the original felt the same way playing dsr as you did playing the original back in 2011
can confirm, i thought DSIR was based, i like it.

Sorry i don't follow, what do you mean exactly?

it's one of those franchises where the first one you play is always the best

Bloodborne recaptured the magic, what are you on about?

I think this is generally true but with DS2 it depends on if you care about PvP or PvE more

It's literally the same game

You're also going to die 20-30 times the first time you're in certain levels, its called building character.

That's bullshit, if you did a SL1 run and wanna fuck over some low level players that's just as valid as using that gear to help them get through the game with ease or be nice and drop them some cool stuff. This freedom is what made Dark Souls cool, it's part of the magic OP refers to, because you're not tied down by bad matchmaking that won't let you invade anyone with less than 2 white phantoms in their world.

If you want to test out your build against a human opponent you're supposed to use red summon signs.
Invasions are chaotic, everything goes, there's not "intent" behind it and that's the point. The player decided how he plays be it a dipshit who bullies low level player or someone who looks for a fair fight. It's an rpg, remember?

>it's one of those franchises where the first one you play is always the best
And yet neither sequel tried the same take on interconnectivity. DS2 regressed back to a Demon’s Souls hub and DS3 just regressed even more. There’s more at play here than “””nostalgia”””

No, it was supposed to be a way to balance out the advantages of getting summons.
You could summon someone in end game gear just as easily as you could get invaded by someone in end game gear. Sounds pretty fair to me.

yes, I agree that the rest lack the feeling of adventure.

>new players WILL lose their first 20-30 invasions

Literally git gud, won my second invasion fair and square and see no reason why it should be made easier to satisfy shitters like you.

They changed matchmaking, took out stuff like dead angling, the community wasn't fresh, they did nothing about some of the older glaring flaws in the game like lost Izalith (and everything after anor londo before the final area if you ask me), it could have been a lot better.
Worst part was that it sort of split the userbase across two games.

new londo and duke's archives are underrated. I would argue that even the tomb is not so bad if you have a sunlight maggot.

The tomb is the only one of those I'd argue is half decent, the gimmick works really well there even if the area is fairly simple.
I honestly forgot it though, probably because it's relatively short when you know where you're going.

Because after Demon's Souls the series became too afraid to dare, it became prsctically designed by comittee akin to the Assassin's Creed series, no innovation, no new mechanics that would 'upset' the fans, just the same old boss rush formula in order to catter to the most common denominator. Don't get me wrong, they aren't bad games by all means, they just aren't anything special either.

I actually enjoyed Bloodborne more than I did Dark Souls 1 but I went into it completely blind probably unlike most of Zig Forums

Because this was the first of its kind back then but now its a whole genre.

They did everything perfectly except breaking certain particle effects (butterfly, kalameet sword r2) and terrain being fucky at 60fps, not to even mention blightown does not lag.

t. Have ps3 version, and 4 remaster.
Pc elitists need not apply, you have mods, fuck off.

>demons souls: am I a joke to you?

Dungeon crawler/Metroidvania always was a genre...

Literally who?

Dark souls is neither of those things

You are out of your mind. You just got filtered because the archives, the tomb of giants and new londo are awesome and well crafted. You can obviously see that the budget was running out but they are stilld solid levels. Lost Izalith is good but not finished.
