Why can't video games get neutrality right? It's not centrism, it's not being moderate, it's not le enlightened middle groundpath, it's not fence sitting. It's not pacifism, it's not playing all sides. It's about wanting to be left alone to focus on your own interests, not getting entangled in other people's bullshit. And if anyone, whether they're Good, Evil, Law, Chaos, or whatever, threatens you or your own, you fuck them up in defense.

That's called be a coward user. Silience is violence
Because video games are made by the kind of idiot who thinks "if your not a Marxist then you're a Nazi".
Because video games are about conflict and violence. Who wants to play United Nations simulator for 8 hours?
It's something that always pissed me the fuck off in the older Neverwinter Nights games. If you wanted to play a neutral alignment you'd have to play a fucking schizo who constantly shifts between chaotic options to lawful to good to evil so his alignment stays balanced, no "neutral" options in most of the dialogues. Pathfinder: Kingmaker pulled this one off much better
it wasn't like that before but that is the reality now.
I do, so long as it's multiplayer with voice chat.
You wouldn't know violence from silience [sic] if it was sitting on your porch eating Fruit Loops.
Picking a side is one thing, being obnoxious about it is another.
It's not about playing as UN. It's about leaving behind real world politics in favor of artistic integrity and independence.
I think that's what OP meant.
I don't think a video game that's even a little relatable to reality (i.e., more realistic than Mario) could ever be considered neutral these days, and it's not because of the game, it's because of polarized people. See this guy (ironic or not):
that sounds like nigger jew tranny talk
So you want a game where you do nothing at all? I'm pretty sure there are plenty of them, play something like Animal Crossing or sim games.
That's not neutrality lmao, that's being a hermit. There's plenty of games which get that right, they're just games like fucking Minecraft. You don't register them as games which do "neutrality" because that's the nature of your so-called neutrality. Any other style of game HAS to have the player NOT be a hermit otherwise there's no fucking game.
Can you imagine Planescape: Torment where the Nameless One just decides to stay in the mortuary forever?
>I think that's what OP meant.
No, read the OP post again. That's not at all what OP meant.
that's basically how most games do neutrality
tvtropes.org
Because that's not neutrality, it's narcissism. It's just one reason not to get involved, not the most common one, and completely ridiculous to anyone who doesn't fit into it.
Why not be involved with everything and everyone and fuck'em all over for your own sake?
You have to love how half the thread immediately jump to the conclusion that since you're not interested in other people's problems, that automatically means you're a completely inert hermit
Sounds spooky as fuck, if I'm being honest
Dunno man, sounds pretty libertarian to me.
It's called depression quest
>If you don't choose side with communism or fascism, you are a coward!
Oh boy I love extremefags
>just wanna be left alone to your own vices and willing to defend your idea from outsite influence
isnt that just conservatism :^)
>
Reminder that only right wing libertarians like video games. All the others are infiltrators.
Read the fucking OP user
But it's true
If you don't get involved in other people's problems, games will have to force you to get involved in other people's problems or force you to have your OWN problems with other people. Otherwise you've got games like minecraft.
Yeah not enough games let me do whatever I want and if anyone fucks me I fuck with them regardless of what side they take. I just want to run around and kill shit and get cool skills and romance a cute yandere little girl, I don't care about what meaningless dogshit the lesser people in my world are squabbling about. And if they want to force my hand then I will just shit fury down their throat until they drown it.
Kill all trannies
I’d say that the best way to be “neutral” in games would be taking on roles like a merchant or a mercenary. Any role in which you work solely for profit and/or self-interest without going out of your way to be malicious. Still, these kind of characters tend to be harder for writers to write as they often have less obvious concrete goals and needs, which in turn makes it challenging to write storylines for them.
If you want an example of a neutral character done right in games, I’d say that Agent 47 from the Hitman games fits the bill perfectly— He doesn’t give a shit about anything and is just doing his job because he enjoys it.
They're not just harder to write, IMO they're just fuckin boring. Neutrality is so shit. Kill all neutrals.
lol ok. they're the ones bitching the most about "muh sjws ruining games"
