The modern game? No not really, when people call it solitaire they aren't joking. There's a massive focus around winning in ne or two turns and it's just not fun to sit there watching some faggot comboing half his deck out for 5 minutes.
That said, there is a current format called Speed Duel taht s very similar to the original game, but it is just as absolutely basic. I recommend trying out Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution if you can find it cheap (or for free, ahaem). It's not an amazing game in terms of progression based single player content, BUT it does progress through each era of the game and teach you all the new rules as you go on. It should help you find your sweet spot.

If he's discarded or sent from the field to GY, both players draw 1 and discard. Then if you discarded an Ojama, pick a monster zone on your opponents field and they can't use it for the rest of the turn
