Play Everlasting Summer. It's free on steam. Install patch that re-enables adult content. It's great and you can sink several dozen hours playing different routes. The studio gives a shit and actually works on another game.

The MC can be braindead sometimes but all of the other characters are really fleshed out. Not a single one was forgettable. It's really great and there's underlying mystery surrounding the whole situation you're in that you can either dismiss after getting one of the endings or get deeper into the rabbit hole and find out what's all that about, there are secret routes that are really long as well. It also teaches you how to play VN in general. Every decision you make matters and can have an impact on the ending or decide whether or not you'll be able to unlock certain scenes. I can't stress enough how great this game is, and it's fucking free which is baffling
