What made the original so kino? was it the jank?
It wasn't.
Nothing. PC cucks only talk about it so much now because the superior remake is going to be a ps5 exclusive. Watch them fill up this thread. God, I want to watch them suffer ugh.
Does anyone want to co-op on RPCS3?
It's not kino, it's just one of those games you get or you don't. Definitely jank, though.
the souls community was still comfy and chill and hadn't yet been ruined by the DaS1 PC port
the remake is being done by blupoint, knowing them the gameplay is gonna be the exact same just with some pretty visuals (although i wonder why they decided to change the art direction)
there really isn't anything jank about des besides the world tendency system.
>demon god
>fucked enemy ai
>exploits all over the place
its 100% jank user, but thats what gives it character!
Demon's Souls is too "bland" visually for nextgen so they change it. Gameplay will probably be changed in small ways where veterans will hate things about it, but I think they'll try to keep the play close.
>ps5 exclusive.
It’s not though.
Aaaaand the thread’s already been derailed by snoy shitposters. Was a good run.
man i just wanna talk about demons souls why do shitposters have to ruin the fun
>t. 360fag trying to shift the blame
Generally different game play. Incredible bleak atmosphere that really brought your mood down. Punishing enemies and design that forced you to play slow and considered that wasn't all about muh extreme meme hard bosses. Interesting world and then fresh characters. Yeah it was laggy and janky sure absolutely. Getting pranked by releasing that caged dude. Great game, loved it more than dark souls series
I played DeS first so a lot of things that were cool surprises for new players in Dark Souls were already kinda known by me. Like Patches, Lautrec, Bell gargoyles, etc. Echoes of Demon's Souls.
The atmosphere was one that really got me. Diablo 1 & 2 were some of my favorite games as a teen, playing DeS in a similar grimdark setting where the kingdoms have fallen and everyones fuckin dead or barely surviving, and you gotta trek through cities full of hostiles and things out to kill you. Really immersed me into the game.
it's all they have
no one? :(
The fact that it laid out 95% of the souls formula, and broke the trend at the time that games should be friendly and forgiving
I liked it a lot and it was my first Souls game but DaS was better in pretty much every aspect IMO.
Is that the emulator or whatever? How well does the game run on it?
>we're still doing PC/console wars
I remember a time when I would go to my pal's home to try out his PS2 and he came to mine for the Gamecube.
Was it always a competition between certain groups?
unironically the loading backgrounds
Having replayed it, most of the areas don't really hold up that well compared to the games that followed, but rediscovering Latria blew me away
The bad bosses.
>It is tho
This. I thought Bloodborne was pretty decent, but honestly I would otherwise have been content if the series had ended with Dark Souls 1. None of the games that came after Demon's Souls really held a candle to it imo.
the atmosphere of that area is so thick
I'd forgotten about the crazy skybox which I don't think you really see until you escape the prison area at the start.
Really tripped me out on my replay.
there's a couple of places in the prison you can see it, but you don't really get up close with it until you're out
you can actually get close enough to see its texture in the maneaters arena
