>Game about the war between humans and aliens
>Human weapons are far superior
What did bungie mean by this?
Game about the war between humans and aliens
Halo's always been a pro-humanity franchise. Well, until 343 at least.
Hard lead>>>>Plasma
even the brutes liked the shotguns
That's why humanity got fucking by the Covenant right?
fucked*
Only the precision weapons were superior
The lore iirc had the humans do well on the ground when the Spartans were made, but then the Covenent would just pull out and glass the planet.
Spartans rape covies but there arent that many and the covenant had a much more capable fleet
You also play as a human supersoldier capable of destroying capital cruisers and decimating front lines. Lore wise human weapons are trash against the covenant solely due to shields. They of course created weapons to counter them, but their base projectile weaponry didn't do much to plasma shielding.
The Covenant used a lot of hit and run tactics, infiltrate, sabotage, invade. It's how Harvest and Reach fell. They would have 100% conquered Earth had Regret not stumbled upon it like a dumbass.
human weapons packed a stronger bunch but are more limited by reload speeds and ammunition supplies, so they have a lower DPS overall
to compound that problem, humans have absolutely fuckall in defensive technology while the covenant has shields for damn near anything
orbital MACs can two shot the big attack carriers? yeah, but you'll need either two MACs to do so because they'll be destroyed after a single round unless you have a construction platform to sacrifice for tanking the plasma beams
Plus there's nothing to do about the boarding parties except defend against them on station.
How come the covenant only used once this type of supercarrier?
Their guns that have a reloading mechanism, not a battery charge, are pretty good.
Don't fix what a'int broke. They were good enough for the job. Don't think they expected there to be Spartans capable of dogging them.
I really like the Corvettes, they're a cool addition. Covenent ships look far too similar
Cope, Truth. Maybe if you didn't destroy 99% of your military a week before your big day you wouldn't have jobbed so badly.
1. Because having enemey weapons be worse, namely easier to see and strafe, makes it easier and more engaging for the player to fight against them in single player
2. The Halo community was traditionally filled with dudebros who saw human stuff as more hardcore and badass, and while it's not nearly as bad as it used to be,m the community today still has a huge hard-on for each game's token UNSC precision weapon by extension of this and MLGfaggotry
>looks like a buffed plasma riffle
>is considerably worse
Plasma repeater fucking sucks
>7.62 vs super heated plasma
>7.62 wins
explain
Because in order to keep society from changing, the prophets would have had to make it culturally and technologically stagnant, lest there be threats to their religious monopoly on power
And besides, they hadn't met any actual threats to their current system; no reason to evolve or adapt
They got fucked because their ships were infinitely better. Also they explain that on the ground, human troops got fucked because they all don't have energy shield like Spartans so the plasma messed them up pretty bad
>literally over 500 years since 7.62 NATO was invented
>still using 7.62 firearms that could be made today in 2500s
Explain.
>Projectile that can punch through armor, flesh, and bone
vs
>Energy blast that fries your skin and nerves, can potentially send you into shock on contact
Not sure about velocity but I think bullets would be faster. Also without shields, the covenant are pincushions.
Good old 7.62 nothing beat it
The only things humanity had going for then were Spartans and a greater willingness to use unconventional warfare. In virtually all other fields, humanity did get fucked.
the point is that even tho plasma is neat, it will never turn the good ol' kinetic energy obsolete, case point being the Super MAC canons
And MACs
This isn't an advantage that often comes up in the games but a big thing the UEG has going for them is that their ballistic weapons are absurdly long range compared to Covenant weapons.
The effective range of a covenant plasma rifle is something ridiculously low like 50m. Elites might be tanky and humans might lack energy shields, but being tanky doesn't matter when you have 50 humans with battle rifles hosing you down before you get into range.
you missed the third and most important thing humans had going for them: the covenant was starting to fracture due to species infighting because the prophets were fucking retarded
I was more thinking within the faction itself, but yeah that's a large factor as well.
Covies were also ridiculously unprepared for waging proper direct ground warfare, that's why they fielded the wraith, an artillery piece as an MBT despite the fact that the scorpion blows it out of the water every time. They didn't even have snipers until human snipers started fucking them up, which I can only assume is because they haven't fought a ground war in thousands of years because sniping is literally one of the first fucking things we figured out after inventing firearms
>Literally destroy thousands of covenant soldiers by themselves
How were Spartans IIs and IIIs this based?
What gets me isn't so much the round, necessarily, but the fact that they're still using essentially modern firearms 500 years in the future with seemingly no substantial advancements. I mean at least use railguns or something.
They had a controller :^)
Weren't covies hacks by the literal definitiom of the word? Like they had lots of forerunner tech, but they didnt REALLY understand it? Thats why the aliems didnt have an alien cortana.
A L L U N I T S
Basically yeah. There were some that wanted to take it apart to understand the tech better but they were deemed heretics because covvie weapons were forerunner designs and thus sacred.
it's a romanticized idea of future combat, man. I borderline guarantee you that we won't be seeing brawny men with guns fighting battles by the time Halo is set- it's going to be something depressing and unsatisfying like thousands of microscopic bomb drones that attach to your brain and detonate.
Covenant weren't really used to ground wars as they'd just glass places from orbit.
