That said, I bought an expensive "ergonomic" chair and it's not comfortable either. My suggestion would be to get something with a TON of cushion and do NOT skip the leg rest.

The scam is in the fact that they are based on racing or sports car seats, which assume that the user will be with a completely different posture than people normally assume when they are on the PC or even playing video games.

They’re extremely uncomfortable. There’s a good reason why a lot of youtubers/streamers who used to use one went through a period where they made videos standing up instead of sitting down. It really can fuck your back up bad.

I got one really cheap 2 1/2 years ago. Its pretty sturdy and isn't showing any signs of wear, but I always find myself sitting in a bad posture in it. I'm not sure if its the chair being uncomfortable or if its me, that i would do this in any ordinary office chair.

It does not, I was able to go through some really fucking wacky hurdles to get a herman miller embody at gsa rates but it was still hundreds of dollars. The only reason I did was because it's my work chair and after enough years I wanted the same.
Honestly not worth it but what else am I gonna use the money on? Now with work from home I'm stuck in it 9 hours a day.

Some of them are actually decent and not overpriced, but comfort is subjective.
However nearly all of the "gaming" chairs are made of faux leather shit that starts to disintegrate within a year. Don't buy one unless it's made of polyester fabric.

Best thing you can do is just go to an office supply/furniture store and sit in every chair until you find one you like.
