all of the kingdom hearts games are incredibly flawed, generally because japanese sensibilities and design get in the way of their true potential
by smart people with taste, yes.
morons who hate it because
>"hurr cringe" are retards and only hate it because muh disney
Yes, but KH2fm is better.
by smart people with taste, no.

The first game is the only one that really holds up in my nostalgic mind. No convoluted dump of lore to get confused over from the get-go, general communion of the Disney and anime elements instead of having them fight each other for dominance, Simple And Clean, etc.
Overall it just feels like a charming coming of age adventure filtered through a bizarre series of cross-overs for the fun of it; before it got bogged down under the weight of its own spin-offs.
As someone who has played the shit out of the two main games and their final mixes I can tell you this
>KH1FM fucks with a lot of shit by making annoying new heartless and a annoying level system that cucks you out of the cool new abilities if you wanna play safe and vice versa
>with that said it's still the superior version of the original, but KH1 still plays just fine
>As for KH2, don't bother with vanilla, KH2FM blows it out of the water
This is actually true, but brainlets disagree
It's plain as day to an adult playing the series that it tanks hilariously after the first
>all this time, we were using riku's keyblade
>kingdom key palette colors are from riku's while kingdom key D has mickey's color palette
wonder what would the kingdom key would look like if it was originally sora's?
first was the best story
2nd was the best gameplay
it has the most childish story in the whole series and the gameplay is worse than kh2s in every way dumb fag
soul
soulless
I can't even respond to something that retarded
It isn't as edgy, you're right about that I guess
KH1 was the better RPG
KH2 was the better Action game
I still like 1 the best.

old thing lame
new thing cool
literally the only people who prefer kingdom hearts story over the other games are into like sonic or some shit. it's the only excuse i can think of. like you have to have autism to like the story in any kh game but that's especially true for the first game. and yeah don't even try to argue the fact that the 2nd game has the best gameplay you'll just make yourself look even more retarded.
Looking at KH1 concept art like this makes me both sad and angry that we could've had a fun semi-cartoony adventure series before it suddenly turned into every awful battle shounen cliche vomited onto the floor with Disney IPs poorly shoved in.
i'll always say that kh2 came in a very opportunistic moment, being released a little bit later or sooner it wouldn't have the same impact it had back then
Is it considered good, yes. Is it good, also yes. Fine enough rpg elements, but at its heart is a simple game with a metal-gear tier story. One's controls are kinda wonk, but that game and the series as a whole are certainly a gem.
Kingdom Hearts 1 is the perfect blend of rpg elements and an ok story without being too anime. I see people call the combat slow but honestly the ones who say that dont use magic or jump cancel their attacks. 10/10 i wanna marry kh1 kairi
Cope
Cringe
And even then you could start to see the cracks on the series slowly forming.
>slowly
Nigga 2 is full of genuinely pointless retcons and plotholes. I agree it doesn't go past the point of no return until they refuse to drop the whole Xehanort/Ansem/Xemnas thing and try and make everything connected with TIME TRAVEL but come on.
What KH1 has going for it is story and the charm of being the first in this long line of an insane crossover idea. The gameplay is fine too, but...
>only Traverse Town is actually fun to go through, if a little annoying
>you then have to slog through like 7-8 levels in a ROW that are all average at best to mediocre and boring at worst
>you finally get to Hollow Bastion and you think you're gonna have fun again
>until the game takes away your Keyblade for a boring puzzle section
KH1's main issue is that a large chunk of the game is outright boring to play through. That said, it's better than KH2's approach of every Disney world just being completely irrelevant to the main plot until second visits.
Now for what KH2 has going for it is the incredible action gameplay, it's far advanced beyond what KH1 was and honestly feels like a completely different game by a different team entirely. The combo system is amazing and deserves the praise it gets, but in return, we had to deal with some harsh negatives.
>The story is now a clusterfuck of shit, Roxas is cool but fucking christ did adding him and the Organization set this series on a path for the worst
>Disney worlds stories have literally no impact whatsoever to the point it's comical, the story only happens in Hollow Bastion, Twilight Town and TWTNW
>the level design in the worlds were fucking garbage by the way every room was completely fucking flat with absolutely no platforming or thought beyond run from point A to point B, same goes with boring chest placements
KH1's heart and soul is WAY greater than KH2's, but the gameplay in KH2 far exceeds KH1. By miles.
Eactly: When 2 came around you could see shit like needlessly convoluted storytelling, uninteresting characters shoved into your face when all you care about is Sora, fujowank, bipolar tone (Granted the first game was dark but it was only fairy tale-ish dark, not schtzophrenic like later ones.) and retcons.
Then this piece of shit came out and butchered the series lore and overall tone with KH3 killing the entire franchise for good.
the story is a mess, nobody argues it isn't but what i meant is, KH2 fell into the black clothing trend. right around the time bleach and naruto were starting to get popular and hot topic boomed with the anime merchandise. kh2 found a place because it was also becoming really shonen with the story and aesthetics.
>right around the time bleach and naruto were starting to get popular and hot topic boomed with the anime merchandise
It feels like just yesterday...
kingdom hearts 2 was a very awkward game but i guess it makes sense because as a teenager everything is too awkward, sora looked more like a teenager so putting him into disney worlds didn't fit plus reenacting dsney movies in empty worlds just looks off. at least in KH1 sora looks like a child still so him in disney worlds fit perfectly. KH2 is just so awkward in general
if namine was a nobody why did she looked so different from kairi? roxas' excuse was ventus but namine is based on nobody but kairi but nobodies don't change appearance
