Why does CS GO keep crashing?

Title. Whenever I load into a map the game will crash to desktop before I’m even in the game. I’ve tried reinstalling steam and cs go multiple times as well as verify the files, nothing works. Any idea what’s wrong? The game was literally working fine for months then all of a sudden this shit started happening

How do I play 1.6?

Bump

download more ram

I had crashes when I had only 2GB ram. Usually I could play the first map, but second one crashed the game.
Also maybe it's a driver problem.

Ever heard of steam discussions mate?

I have 16 GB of ram I’m sure that’s not the problem. Also all drivers are updated. I notice when I’m playing the power usage becomes very high, maybe my PSU is fucking up? It only does that when loading into a match. I’ve tried everything, should I maybe take it to a repair shop and see if someone can fix it for me? I assume it’s a hardware issue.

Bump

Repair game data through the steam menu fuxking niggee

what operating system are you on?
have you updated your graphics card driver?
have you installed the latest OS updates?

these are actual important questions. CSGO is being phased out on windows 7 compatability, nVidia and intel are dropping windows 7 support, sometimes CSGO requires a graphics driver update to work on some GPUs, and sometimes linux has problems playing games if the system isn't full up to date.

Also, mac users are treated like seventh class citizens when it comes to games, mainly becaue mac drops support for features and APIs that old games and programs actually need to run.

>CSGO is being phased out on windows 7 compatability
WHAAAAAT?

If it's only csgo it's a software issue.
Try a different source game and see if it's a problem with the engine or just csgo.

Fuck off you utter moron

Windows 10 and yes all my drivers are updated. I have no idea what’s causing this issue. As I said earlier maybe my PSU is fucked up or something? People say it’s normal for apps to have high power usage but it only happens to me when I’m loading into a map. I assume maybe the PSU dosent have enough power to run it? It should be fine though considering it’s 550 W. Should I go to a repair shop?

It seems it only happens specifically when loading into a game. Some maps I can get into like vertigo or cobblestone but newer maps like swamp just crashes before I can even get into the game. What can I even do at this point if it’s not hardware? Is my game just totally fucked?

not sure. if you wanna know its the GPU, you can use tools online to calculate your power draw based on your pc specs

another way to test if its the cpu is to lower the framerate using the "laptop power savings" in either windows or the csgo settings menu, and lower the in game-resolution.

if it doesn't crash when you do that, its hardware related.

if it does crash still, its software related.

it might be tricky though.
you could backup all your data and reinstall windows using a usb
but you have to make sure you have everything backed up (game saves, app data etc. unless you dont mind losing it)

OR, if you dont want to risk losing / have to backup all your data

do you know how to dual boot linux? if so, you could shrink your windows partition using the partition manager, and install something like fedora to play CSGO on?
just make sure when you install linux, that you install it on the FREE SPACE, and don't mess up your windows partition. you might have to disable win10 secure boot, its a stupid locking mechanism that microsoft puts on windows 10 PCs

i meant to say PSU instead of GPU and CPU. i think you get what i meant.

CSGO also crashes on my windows machine, so i just said fuck off and installed it on linux

reinstall the game, reverify via steam tools, then check your logs if it happens again. DELETE the game, install the game, and report.
that's about all you can do for now. also yes, your psu might fuck it up, but play something intensive on it or run a stress test. if it shuts off the pc just trying to play something on that kind of a pc, then it's a psu issue. if it doesn't, csgo is to blame.

but be careful installing dual boot linux
only ever install linux onto FREE SPACE that you made on a drive, never overwrite a partition or else windows goes bye bye
you hear?

you can also install linux on a spare hard drive from an old computer you dont use and then choose linux from bios when you want to boot into it and play csgo. thats the better option, then you have both OSes seperated from each other and dont have to worry about anything

you just have to press F8 or some shit when you boot the machine to choose the linux hdd

Interesting. This is a possible solution I’ll look into it, thanks.
Yeah I did pretty much all that except report, thought it would be useless but I’d love to be wrong. My pc sometimes gets blue screens of death if I’m doing too much shit at one time, maybe these two issues are related? I still think csgo is to blame in some way considering it dosent happen on my other games.

report it, if you don't mind giving ((potentially personal information)) to valve
i don't know how much data it reports that valve doesn't already have from being installed on your system

but i know valve is one of the few companies that actually seems to give a shit about errors

also, you can reach out to their customer support and say you've tried everything and ask them to look into it, and you're more likely to get a response from an actual human who will make a note to look into it than any other games company

valve sorta actually provides decent customer support. fucking gabe newell answers emails from regular nobody users i shit you not.

you can email him at [email protected]

>5400 rpm hdd
>550w psu

bro, i....

is 550 watts even enough for the 5700 XT?

The other parts in general are cheap shit

You need to be eighteen years of age to post on Zig Forums.

Thank you man, you were very helpful. I’ll definitely look into this.
So you think the PSU might be the problem? I don’t understand because my game was fine for months until 2 weeks ago. Pc Part picker says 550 W is enough for my build.

One last bump

Insufficient power from your PSU might be the cause, but I'm not sure. I just did some searching and people are saying 500 watts is enough, but AMD recommends 600 watts. I don't think that's necessarily the problem tho. I don't play CS:GO, so I can't really help you. Sorry
