Did anyone come here from Gamespot forums? What forums did you use back in the day?

The gaia online of GameFAQs
gamespot forums were for chads, you guys were always the beta forum
Was a Gamefaqer, it's merger with Gamespot was dark times.
t. couldnt stand all the buttblasting going on in the system wars forum
I used NSider but they closed like a year after I started, then I moved to Bungie and one of those fan-run NSider shootoffs. I didn't get the glory days of Newgrounds or SA because I was too dumb, when I was even younger I would look through BZpower forums just to see their animated avatars, sigs, etc.
15ish years later still mad about being inferior lmao
came from gamefaqs sometime during 2008
this guy is a homo
did you have a wii or a 360 back then? I probably verbally put you in your place multiple times
>snoyggers were the fagspotters
can't make this shit up lol
Can't tell you, but it involved nazis
God I miss forums so much. Why did they vanish? Was it just the change of times or did something else kill it?
I quit that place because that shitgen came out.
reddit and discord destroyed the need for forums
you missed peak shitposting
I was on GameFAQs for a while and then I moved to my own little Invisionfree forum for RPing and chatting with friends. Back then, people would just kinda stumble across it and join, so it wasn't as insular as you'd expect. Good times. Now it feels like that culture of finding random forums to join is dead.
What happened to Allie Sin anyways?
Social media killed the internet as a whole.
It's so frustrating. I hate reddit's layout and systems and just can't keep up with Discord. I get the impression forums were more neatly organized and threads weren't bombarded with constant conversation every second like Discord is. I'm getting old.
I came here from Gaia online.
Do you think there's ever going to be an internet renaissance where different websites and environments happen or are we just doomed to having all content centralized in social media forever?
reddits upvote system destroys any actual conversation and yep pretty much every non adhd, fornite-zoomer feels that way about discord.
if you're lucky you can find some okay ultra slow discords. subreddits that dont use up or downvoting at all and some forums that are still alive.
If you could handle IRC, you can handle discord desu.
I highly doubt it. When, or if, the current giants like reddit, facebook, twitter, and instagram go down, they will just be replaced by something functionally the same. Social media and algorithms have killed the internet for good.
I sense the world is slowly pivoting back to 2006 culturally partly because the current world sucks so bad and also because we've become the demographic for selling nostalgia too now. Not sure if the internet will follow suit but hopefully. Normies always come around eventually it just takes them decades.
Yeah, it all went to shit when they redesigned the site
As a zoomer, almost everything I know about the internet I learned by going on YouTube or the Roblox Off Topic forums. I posted there for nearly a decade before everything was shut down in 2017. It was basically Zig Forums for kids now that I think about it.
you mean when Jeff left
Actually, come 2012 it was more like Zig Forums mixed with /vg/ what with all the drama all the time. Just replace namefags and avatarfags with "popular" posters and imagine the sekrit Discord drama is unfolding live on the forum instead. It was exactly as horrible as it sounds, yet at the same time I can't help but miss it.
I came here from SA
I was on everything back then, gfaqs, gamespot, gaia, sa, ytmnd, etc etc.
I miss it, i used to have a bookmark folder filled with sites, like at least 20 id visit every DAY for news and info.
Now, everything is twitter or reddit "leaks", no more that kid stories.
Gamefaqs.
