I want to make a video game. I know programming because I went to a university that taught me how to program.
I recently found out that I'm severely lacking in 3d modeling knowledge, and universities don't teach that. How do game devs learn 3d modeling?
Take for example pic related, it's from an indie game. It looks so fluid and realistic despite not having the budget of a AAA company. Where do these guys learn this stuff?

You will waste a lot of time and you will not release a single however shitty game. Just give up now.

The game you want to design has either already been made or in the works right now, who honestly gives a damn

sauce and I will answer

What the fuck am I even looking at OP?
Anyways, you basically need retarded amounts of time and support from at least one fetish subgenre to get anywhere, if it fulfills at least one person's base desire you're gonna get some followers.

Gibe sauce OP

you need to figure out what you are talking about because 3D animation and modeling are two insanely different things and 90% of modelers cant animate and most animators can only do basic modeling. also you can do online classes and look at tutorials for learning this shit, there are also prob workshop classes you can do assuming there are game art academies in your city. you can also enroll in a 4 year digital arts college if you have money to blow

Shut the fuck up

Porn for Americans is something else.

I spent the whole day searching for the sauce yesterday and somehow i managed to find it. Get fucked, OP

Instead of starting with a multi-year endeavor you should try making some simple mods for skyrim or whatever. Small projects tend to get done and it will give you a taste

H e l p
U s

A taste of what?

>I want to make a video game
Let me stop you right there, take a page out of the Indie game playbook (Not to mention you picked a porn game as an example for some obscene reason.) and tell you that it's easier to get a start by designing assets, get your ideas straight. IF you don't have any ideas, combine ideas that you can find in Zig Forums

If you're a programmer you can just procedurally animate most things, IF you're good at programming however.

give sauce first retard

Pratice nigga, pratice.
Don't listen to doomerposters.
You can easily pratice by doing small games, specially in game jams.

There was a good 3D thread on Zig Forums earlier this week that had some pretty good advices, check the archive

>i look forward to your game out of the 12 that release on the day you release it!!!!
it will be shit and get like 1 sale from your friend who checked your game's steam page and saw how you failed miserably after wasting so much time so he secretly buys your game but at the end of the day his opinion of you has lowered significantly because no one wants to be associated with a failure which is what you'll be.
Good luck.

step 1: use key frames
step 2: smooth out the movement with more keyframes
step 3: PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE
step 4: you're good enough at animating to make a game.

a taste of doing actual work
a taste of finishing projects

yikes

Universities do teach 3D modeling though, just not for CS-students and the like

You posted this thread almost exactly a day before you absolute turdfaggot, take the advice and leave the sauce

No offense, but isn't there literally a 3D board?
Ah, there it is

Someone already found it without help If he was able to do it, so can you.

Now stay on topic or get the fuck out of my thread.

You can make the game with a lot of free stuff from the epic store. Characters maps all you need is there free.

If you really think your game will sell you can just buy nice models from arstation pre-rigged etc.
Replace your props with those and sell the game.

Unreal engine now has facial animation via iphone mocap.

Sauce

>Your thread
Projecting much sweetie? It was your idea to make a stupid fucking off/topic thread and shit up the board.

This guy knows what hes talking about.
If you're actually serious,
Make mods, make small prototypes using premade click-and-drag stuff, then slowly progress to projects using your own unique assets.
If you want to learn faster and network take a course.
I did that for 3 years now I work at a AAA studio.

>Where do these guys learn this stuff?
By themselves. Lots of tinkering and other shit.
Not sure how to explain it but you just end up getting a "feel" for how things work out after a while. Been having that with animations for a while, your brain just learns to automatically pick up on it, when something either looks too robotic or way too smooth/fluid to be realistic.

It's not that bad but it's time consuming as fuck. I honestly think I'd rather just mocap something then re-touch the animation by hand instead.

>Implying he know the sauce.
You all have been rused.

pathetic samefag attempt

this is not the source. you lied to me.

cs students do get a class in 3d programming which is kinda related, but it's more about the math/coding involved that deals with how the computer processes all the data like the meshes and the raytracing and such
recommended to take vector calc before it if it's not a requisite

Stop with all this gay off-topic dev stuff and post the source already

Your thread is shit and you're a fucking retard.
