Playing solo is the true horror experience. It's terrifying. Playing with randos is also fun as long as most people have a mic.
Yes to an extent. I started last night and my friends didn't take it seriously and all lost their shit when the controls were slightly difficult to figure out. And they didn't immerse themselves or even try to gather evidence or read the journal. Voice chat is proximity based unless you use the radio chat button. All of the randoms I've played with have at worst treated it like a video game and at best gotten jump scared on mic.
