The reason you've turned into a jaded boomer who hates current videogames

Tell me your reason, user. How would your situation improve?

I didn't lol. FUCK YEAH VIDEO GAMES!!

Great, that's how it should be!

I love video games. I recognize though that part of what made me love them so much was the novelty and originality. Video games are what film was 100 years prior. Going through the 80s and 90s and even the 00s with games was incredible. But gaming became too corporate. Design by committee and focus groups rather than just a few guys making a game. That’s why my love for gaming has actually returned through retro gaming and working my way through the countless classics I missed. I still like what Fromsoftware, Capcom, and Nintendo are doing for the most part. Naughty Dog and Square have lost me. I miss Konami. The real Konami.

You know what made me lose all hope? When they started adding price tags to characters as DLCs. Street Fighter 5 and Gears Of War 4 did this and I just lost all hope in the vidya industry.

Hate is a little strong, it's more of a lack of interest in most current video games.

I used to assume video games would get more and more complex due to how technology grows exponentially. Instead, it turned out that video games got simpler and simpler because that's what they learned apeals to wider audiences and sells more games. My hopes were that we'd have very complex games with deep mechanics and complex programming, instead we have streamlined games with as simplistic mechanics as possible so anyone can pick it up.

Compare an old and new game in the same genre for example. Compare jagged alliance 2 to nu-xcom. Jagged alliance 2 was so complex with all of its mechanics that after hundreds of hours I was still learning things or finding ways to get better at the game. After hundreds of hours I could play the game at a much higher level and win in situations I couldn't as a noob because the skill ceiling was so high. Nu-xcom is just move, attack, end turn, with a simple % chance to hit. You can understand the entire game within 10 minutes and you'd barely notice a difference between a noob or someone with 100s of hours because there's just not enough depth to the game for there to be a difference.

I occasionally still find games with depth that I fall in love with, so I don't believe I'm entirely jaded, but they're few and far between.

Jaded Zoomer, you mean. Also, my reason is primarily microtransactions and far-leftists weaseling their way into positions of power in the industry.

I bet you didn't play a single video game this past week

Mass Effect 3, I was only 16 and they ended my childhood. They turned me into a jaded faggot who can't enjoy games.

>tfw no Moomin vidya

Honestly?
Seeing people easily fork over cash for shit like Genshin Impact
Or Cheering M$ buying Bethesda and acting like its a historic achievement has left me pretty much hopeless.

Seconding this.

Mainstreaming games made everything dumber and soulless for the normies. I blame halo.

What do you mean nigga, there's shit ton of Moomin vidya

Any recommendations user?

When clover studios closed I felt gaming wasn't going to be gameplay forward anymore.
Then shit like last of us, witcher 3, horizon zero dawn, onions of war became the big games and they only care about cinematography.

Post em

I'm not even a boomer and I'm mad that I missed out on all the cool internet stuff

the feeling of your life creeping away

This is not a threat but you need to post moominmama now or something seriously bad is gonna happen.

Developers started putting hours upon hours into ensuring smooth player experience. Guess what a smooth player experience feels like to play? Fucking bland and boring.

No tappelevat muumit?

video game is poison and I am becoming resistant

I'm not jaded at all. I generally like more recent generations of games than ones I grew up with (Atari 2600, NES, etc.).

I don't have any pics of mamma, hope this works

I really only hate modern stuff because of microtransactions and time gated content.
Watching steve from minecraft get added to smash made me feel glad because it's something people want, and I'm glad that people are excited for it.
I have a fuck-huge backlog to complete anyways.

Contemporary capitalism took over the industry and just churns out garbage. This has been getting progressively worse since the early 2000s.
There are still good games, but in general the industry is pretty awful these days. Rather than the focus being on fun good games, they crap out reskinned skinner box sims filled with MTX.

It's in the kino section

I don't like recommending games because I have such an autistic niche that i know most other people dont enjoy. The most recently released game that I really fell in love with and broke my jadedness was Kenshi. I really like sandboxes, and kenshi is more autistic sandbox life sim than game, but over 900 hours later and I still love playing it.

I'm not jaded. I've just accepted that Vidya isn't a stimulating enough hobby for me. I still play some comfy spooky games every October, and every once in a while I'll find something new I actually like, but besides that, I don't play Vidya. I've found other things I've enjoyed as much as I used to enjoy video games. I'm satisfied with that.

Games are its own medium and art form. The fart sniffing AAA game dev faggots who try to turn games into movies are the literal cancer killing video games. If you think you're so "above" games and are trying to show off how much you paid for your shitty art degree then go make student films and stop invading video games you fucking niggers.
