For someone that always wanted to try D&D, how genuine would you say BG3 is?
For someone that always wanted to try D&D, how genuine would you say BG3 is?
Pretty close, one big thing is they really game-ified the action economy when it comes to bonus actions. Otherwise you would have almost nothing to do per turn, same with resting without limitations because spellcasters would be boring
Genuinely shit maybe.
It's genuine if everyone you play with is an insufferable edgelord. BG3's characters are trash.
the dwarf girls and goblins give me a boner
Don't play BG3. It's not hard to find a game (especially 5e which is what BG3 is using as its ruleset).
5e garbage
I'm actually confused with the resting limitations, just seems like you can do it anywhere even in the midst of a dungeon? without penalty? clearly that's just unfinished right?
Very genuine because it managed to take the original sin gameplay and turn it into dogshit just by applying D&D rules to it.
Short rest anywhere seems fine, long rest camp in a dungeon seems like it shouldn't be intended.
not at all genuine. part of the appeal for tabletop games in general is the social interaction, and also the fact that the adventure itself is tailored around your group, or at the very least accommodates your characters so you feel somewhat part of the game world
both of these aspects are obviously missing because, well, it's a video game. however, mechanically it's pretty close, though you should probably wait until all the classes and races are added, part of the fun is the variety in builds you can make
i haven't played it, but i guarantee that nothing can come close to replicating the experience of playing d&d irl
the characters have always seemed like that to me in larian games, its why i played lone wolf in ds2
Its boring as shit so pretty genuine
I WANT TO EAT SHADOWHEART'S PUSSY SO BAD!
>same with resting without limitations because spellcasters would be boring
Yeah I love having to spend 3 minutes having to camp after literally every combat encounter. Why the fuck did anyone think turn based D&D would translate well to a videogame when it was already slow and tedious to begin with
Why can you only short rest once between long rests?
Why?
Has anyone tried Beastmaster instead of hunter? is the companion worth it?
Kill every githyanki you see, they are all slavers.
Those two things aren't even connected. Even RTWP cRPG's have resting and per rest spell slots. It seems shitty early on when you have like zero spell slots, but it picks up quick.
Probably to limit spending your hit die. Sure as fuck isn't because of class abilities.
>Wizard's Arcane Recovery is an Action
>Light Cleric's Warding Flare has unlimited uses
Actually, that reminds me: how do Warlocks get their spell slots back in BG3? Is it still a short rest?
Short rest but they have more spells that don't require a spell slot.
HOLY SHIT LAE'ZEL IS THE PERFECT WOMAN HNNNNGGG
I imagine a build with lots of warlocks would run this shit into the ground if they could short rest as often as they'd like.
As genuine as a three dollar bill.
your perfect woman is super bitchy and sleeps around and doesnt care for emotions?
The women in this game are mean and that makes me aroused
>they have more spells that don't require a spell slot
Cantrips don't really factor into my question. All spellcasters have cantrips, but if Warlocks are limited to a single short rest in BG3 then I hope folks have fun spamming Eldritch Blast.
Really good but extremely confusing. I played BG1 and BG2 and didn't need to know anything, the game would spoon feed me information and avoid mentioning everything i didn't need to know.
BG3 however throws you into the water and you don't know how to swim, I assume it's part of the early access how rushed everything is.
you can do the same thing in BG1 & 2
When can I have sex with green girl?
0%
>complaining that there's no handholding
holy shit you fucking troglodyte.
>Can't be half-orc barbarian kicking the shit out of shitty little goblins and throw 8d12 at an enemy with your gigantic fucking battleaxe
Aside from that the game's been pretty good, although I'm only 5-6 hours in so far.
What's wrong with hand holding? Should I waste my time reasing some virginal table top guide?
I feel like the bonus action changes are kind of busted haven't played enough yet. The resting too I kind of hate the meta-game-ness of the game telling you you have to hurry but actually you can take as long as you like. Do they even plan random encounters? How would they even make sense?
I know they're planning to add barbarian at some point but will they add more races too?
I'm guessing since no one has mentioned it, you can't have sex with a goblin.
gacha for boomers
>roll your dice to see if you win or not
I have no idea, but I'd probably go for another run through if they do.
I've never played another rpg where resting takes up as much time as the fucking combat lmao, its an archaic tabletop system from 40 years ago it doesnt belong in modern gaming. This shit is slower to play than RDR2. I honestly can't see this system appealing to anyone outside of DnD autismos who care more about how close it sticks to a rulebook than how fun it is. Brand recognition isn't going to save this snoozefest now that the bar has been raised by other games. shouldve just made os3 instead
close enough, but combat is a bit more "streamlined" in the game.
Definetly, DoS2 had a kickstarter to get the undead race and everyone liked it. I can see you freaks making one to play as a female goblin since they just need to reuse Tiefling animations.
>elemental surface wankery from DivOS
>disengage/jump/shove/item use is a bonus action
>Help revives allies
>Sneak Attack is it's own action
>Wizards can copy any scroll they want into their spellbook
>Thieves Tools break on failed checks
>Thief Rogues get a second bonus action
>Reactions have to be prepped during your turn
>Arcane Recovery's an action
is it as fun as DOS2 though combat wise?
it's probably as close as a game will ever get
they take some liberties, though
No
not even close sadly
The first real fun I had was in a large battle during the story with like 30+ npc's involved. Outside of that it's hard to gauge, low level dnd is dull. The world is greatly detailed though and fun to explore.
>Sneak Attack is it's own action
This tripped me up for so long, I couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting sneak attack damage.
DoS2 was not fun
Let's be real, that's how most people play DND, nobody wants to do side content/help people, they just want to fuck shit up and intimidate NPCs into giving them what they want.
