I used to think the same but some games just do atmosphere so fucking well and have such great characters that it makes up for the gameplay not being balls to the wall crazy all the time. gameplay still matters I mean I'm not playing a movie but it doesn't have to be doom eternal the entire game

you know what, i can mostly agree on that
everyone can easily look past graphics (from old games to undertale/minecraft)
most people playing video games don't mind easy/simple gameplay, but will drop a game if it gets too hard/complicated
good music will either be remembered or meme'd about even beyond the game, yet bad music can spoil the entire experience for anyone
substance is too broad though
