Gotta be honest Zig Forums. I'm not feeling this clutch claw shit at all. I wanted to hunt monsters, not larp as Spider-Man.

Bump

You dont have to claw bro

They improved it in the recent patch but it's still a stupid mechanic

I love the clutch claw. Trust me, Icebore has nothing else new going for it, so learn to love it.

I hate it as well, but I give them credit for trying something new.

Hopefully in the sequel it's treated more like a tool where it's on a cooldown and you use it more as like a extra boost if you want to.

Why's elder dragon have so many good skill and slot, meanwhile tigrex gets free meal as its set bonus

I've heard this before, but I don't really keep my ear to the ground for these things. What did they change?

it kills the flow of combat.
>get into rhythm of dodging and hitting
>oh yeah gotta tenderize
same goes for turf wars.

what actually ruins the flow of combat is having 2 or 3 monsters repeatedly roar

The problem with these types of features is it's an excuse to make the game harder unless you use them. And by harder I don't really mean harder, in the case of the clutch claw it just inflates monsters health along with having more shitzones.

the time parts remain tenderized was doubled (90 secs to 180) and they introduced a deco that allows light weapons to tenderize in one hit and heavy weapon to drop ammos.

>tenderize timer was doubled
>Clutch Claw Boost decoration was added to the melder, which lets lighter weapons tenderize in one claw attack

100%, I remember when 4U had that anti virus shit for super mad boys or whatever, you could still beat those guys, but going through the single player and doing it made them a bit easier.

Clutch Claw is just "Do it, or the fight is gonna take half an hour for everything" or you run into shit with Alatreon and Fatalis where if you're not tenderising, you might as well just go home.

>Clutch Claw is just "Do it, or the fight is gonna take half an hour for everything" or you run into shit with Alatreon and Fatalis where if you're not tenderising, you might as well just go home.
why do people overemphasize shit like this so much. i don't like the clutch claw at all and I rarely ever tenderize because i'm sick to death of it, but with endgame gear all my regular tempered hunts are under 10min. alatreon without tenderizing is usually 12-13min and fatalis without tenderizing takes 17-18min maximum.

With endgame gear hunts don't take that long, but when you're playing through the story and guiding lands until you get to gold rath they take pretty long.

how the hell can you even do fatalis that quickly without tenderizing

>with endgame gear
that's the problem

*belly flops onto you*

well I think that's a pretty regular part of progression in monster hunter games in general, it's not THAT out of place. monsters in iceborne do have a lot of HP, but this is because they were balanced around both wallbanging and the longer trip times in World in general. I don't use wallbanging either
fatalis is a really nice fight after you use his own gear against him, you shouldn't have any trouble slotting in all the affinity you need for 95-100% against un tenderized weakspots along with heavy artillery and partbreaker.

>fatalis's third charged fireball in phase 3 charges twice as fast as the first two and also he can change who he's targeting in multiplayer for a surprise cart
cool

>claw him during a safe attack
>starts belly flop just as tenderize animation starts
HORSE

SHIT

My bad, I didn't mean every fight regardless of gear, I meant when you only had the gear you had access to at the time, without the claw shit took forever.

Those are impressive times for Alatreon and Fatty, what are you rolling with?

This game is literally unplayable without Earplugs 5, change my mind
I'd rather chop off my fingers 1 by 1 than be stunned by random roars every 20 seconds

>onsters in iceborne do have a lot of HP, but this is because they were balanced around both wallbanging and the longer trip times
that's the thing we're complaining about though.

Just mod it out. There's a mod that applies the Wounding calculation to hitzones that are 40 and above.

>Those are impressive times for Alatreon and Fatty, what are you rolling with?
i love those two fights to death so I do them with all the weapons I possibly can without wallbanging/combat mantles. my fastest for alatreon was just under 11min with full safi+kjarr charge blade, but element GS (lol) and longsword were also pretty competitive. fatalis I've been using his armor set and weapons with partbreaker/heavy artillery and enough affinity to not worry about tenderizing. the fight is insanely fun with GS, LS, sns, and switch axe.
well then I do agree with that for the most part. it's stupid that you have to "earn" the right to ignore a shitty game mechanic by getting better gear.

You can literally just ignore it altogether
>b-but now my hunts take 7 minutes instead of 5 minutes
Who gives a shit

>Yeah just give up 30% affinity and extra damage bro.
Stop with this excuse it's a shit mechanic

>same goes for turf wars.

At least turf wars are thematically fitting for the series and can be lots of fun to watch and take part in.
There's nothing wrong with introducing an element of randomness to a hunt that forces you to think outside the box and reassess your wash-rinse-repeat tactic from the start of the hunt until the monster is dead.

>I'm going to get all the evil eyes I need before I do cortexes

Have you beaten Alatreon with a SA? I can't seem to do it at all. I've only ever beaten him with Kjarr DBs.

I bought this game on sale and finally got around to playing it. It's awesome so far but it's a bit confusing sometimes. I hear people saying to use the armor to go straight to the endgame but is that the optimal way to play ? Also, is the HD texture pack worth the extra GB ?
