How's that game coming along Zig Forums?
How's that game coming along Zig Forums?
Forcing myself to code for an hour a day but otherwise mostly procrastinating on the actual development by playing with lore crafting

rate this boss theme anons
sounds okayish, doesn't really get my blood pumping
maybe with gameplay it feels better
thanks user
i'm still not entirely sure where to put it in my game, if at all
On indefinite hiatus due to my gf not letting me do literally anything I enjoy doing.
how do I quit everything and start working on myself?
Been there, dump her. Gotta look out for number one my man, no person worthwhile is going to prevent you from perusing your interests / passions. Hook up with people if you want sex.
Sounds very hollow.
Nah we've been together 3 years she's just being clingy lately.
Any suggestions on how to make it better?
start by taking a shower
Pretty great, Now adding animation/juice and trying to figure out sound/music.
I was with mine for 8 and never accepted her shitty personality until it was too late.
Being clingy is a bit different from 'not letting me do literally anything I enjoy doing.'
Denial? or were you exaggerating?

Put out a demo on Thursday, now I'm just working through fixing bugs + doing some minor content stuff in anticipation. Thankfully most of the bug reports have been minor or known, and nothing truly gamebreaking. I'm actually surprised that nothing seems to have gone specifically wrong on the Linux build.
>worked on a joke meme game for 2 months
>lost all my motivation to complete it now
At least I gained experience I guess...
And I made backups and shit so if I ever feel like going back and completing it, all the files are still there.
I think I'm gonna make it.
we all are
I finally got out of a 4-month health-related fatigue slog and finally fixed some long-standing bugs. Think I'm back in the flow again
I slightly redesigned The MC based on feedback.
Other than that, working on character designs, music and programming.

very cute
what game is this?
Urgent!
Can someone please tell me what is the engine that best fits the following requirements:
1) is free
2) is ideal for 3D platforms and/or 3D rpgs
3) either has very advanced 3D modeling features on par with Blender, or allows importing of Blender models in the most easy and straightforward way possible
4) has a lot of "template" objects and/or scenes in order to get started without having to reinvent the wheel
?
Unity
That metallic guitar sample is pretty ugly and doesn't really blend with the rest. The song itself reminds me of one of the SNES Lamborghini Diablo themes, doesn't feel like normal boss music until the lead comes in around 1:20, though that's not necessarily a bad thing.
RPG Maker
Not very good mastering at all.
Plus it's literally the bombing run theme from FF7
unity?
also i don't even think there are any game engines that feature 3d modeling tools built in, unless someone can prove me wrong
Is this some sort of picross?
What happened to this game? I downloaded this demo from here in 2017 and haven't seen shit since.

Welp, it happens frequently that the 1ma indie devs abandon their games.
Learned that the hard way.
Yeah, it's a variation on the ruleset.
Neat. Looks good, it almost seems like a side-game you'd find in a Zachtronics game.
Pretty bad desu. You have a basic idea that can work with the pumping disco beat, electric guitar, and chord progression. That core idea is the most important part of the song and should sound good on its own. That idea is not fleshed out enough and it seems like you added many unnecessary elements to make up for that. See if you can make it sound good with the most basic elements alone, then add embellishments. Also your samples are bad and it's not really mixed.
Thank you. Zachtronics games are literally my favourite. I'm going for an aztec/mayan feel.
I posted in one of these threads before and got some good advice. I always dreamed about making a game and some anons said that the best way is to simply start. So I bought game maker 2 and now I'm going through the tutorials. I was really scared of trying because my work requires me basically to be a meathead. Just a pair of muscles that guard shit. You anons really inspired me to try my dream. This programming stuff is sort of easy to understand but it's hard to implement yourself. When you're doing the tutorials it feels like its the easiest shit in the world. Is that how programmers who work full time also feel?
>At least I gained experience I guess...
That's the way I look at it. A few weeks ago I had no idea how I could possibly code a game. Now I've got all the basic systems created, even if I never finish the thing I've proved to myself i can do it.
>2) is ideal for 3D platforms and/or 3D rpgs
P.S.: sorry, I forgot to add: openworld
P.P.S.: I'm right now looking at Cryengine... is it a good idea?
All my guitar VSTs suck dick and that was the best one, which really speaks volumes about all the others.
Just looked up the OST you were talking about; you're right desu.
Mixing was never my strong suit. Also, I can hear the resemblance now that you mention it. I was actually more inspired by Omega's first phase theme from MMZ3
Yesterday I did a bit of quest scripting, and today I did a first pass on another quest's writing. It's not huge but it's progress. More importantly, I've sorted out my sleep schedule so I can start working at regular times again.
I noticed, it reminded me of Broken Sword 2. Keep up the good work.
As an aside, I wonder if there's going to be a new Zachtronics game this year. They've been fairly consistent so far, and they are usually shadow-dropped in October.
>Cryengine... is it a good idea?
It's the least-supported and worst-documented so no
>Is that how programmers who work full time also feel?
Yeah, programmers use Stack Overflow
sort of, try breaking what you're trying to implement into small steps/blocks, that's all programming is in the end
vocaroo.com
Should I scrap this song or keep working on it?
Never use CryEngine. Just don't. Trust me on this.
Thanks for the feedback, user. I think I'm going to go workshop this a bit; maybe starting with just the bassline and the main melody and then seeing where I can go from there.
Also, I think I'm going to have to finally cave in and look up some damn mixing tutorials
Keep working, that xylophone is groovy
