Why does Gen Alpha hate this game? Back in the day this was considered the best video game ever. People pointed to Ocarina of Time as an example of the perfect video game. Now, more and more people are saying "this game is really dated" or "these graphics suck". What went wrong?
Why does Gen Alpha hate this game? Back in the day this was considered the best video game ever...
bump
they cannot appreciate classics, and desperately cling to whatever shiny new thing comes out
A lot of things you kind of have to be there to experience, context matters.
If a steak gets served to you piping hot in 1998, but you wait until 2020 to eat it, it's going to be cold and rotten.
Same with games, music, all of it. People who are crazy about The Beatles who are older aren't just remembering the Beatles' albums. They're remembering the experience of it, all the concerts they went to, the mania surrounding it at the time.
Same with OoT. If you're playing it now, you're disconnected from the experience of what it was like to play it in 1998 when it revolutionized how a Zelda could be, the switch to 3D, and how perfect a game could become.
based, also I personally love food analogies
Nigga what are you talking about. Most current beatles fans werent that that time and didnt even watch the Beatles live. OoT hasnt aged as well as other gams from the era, thats the truth. The beatles songs are still being extensively covered cause they are that good.
Ocarina of Time is a masterpiece, and always has been.
It's not the best game ever made but it is the best 3D Zelda
Nobody hates this game, they just subconciously convince themselves it's overrated despite never playing it simply because their minds can't comprehend it living up to the Greatest of All Time praise for 20 years. 90% of the people on Zig Forums are just shitposting for (you)'s because it works every time, same with how they spam daily NieR Automata hate threads. Zoomers downvote brigade it on every website to prop up Witcher 3 & BOTW, like DC fags downvote brigaded The Godfather on IMBD to get Dark Knight higher which resulted in Dark Knight being downvoted to get Shawshank at #1
Because for a lot of the them the only version they've played is the cucked 3ds one
Because it's shit. Bad controls, inscrutable item-fetching puzzles that make you walk back and forth across an empty map with little clue as to what you're looking for. If OoT was actually good, BotW wouldn't have jettisoned every single of its ideas while taking the best from Western games.
Dunno. I think it's because games are so much bigger these days, but I never felt that I needed more direction when I played it.
I think there is merit to games being open (like Zelda games) but not huge. If you fill your world with stuff, most of it will just end up being noise.
>Westcuck crying over Nintendo again
Everytime
Half-Life was far more influential. Only pathetic console children too poor to afford a proper PC could consider anything about this game revolutionary.
Really overrated. Japan in general could never really could wrap their head around game design. People bitch about it now but it's not really anything new
>food analogy
opinion discarded
What's wrong with food analogies?
I wouldn't consider this game dated. It has some little low points here and there like the iron boots basically ruining the cool water temple, but a lot of the shitty things like that were fixed in its 3ds remake.
Game's really good and still holds up, but I think Majora's a little cooler and GOAT zelda
>food analogy
opinion considered
People want any reason to disregard an argument they can't actually defeat with logic.
fmd i just realised the absolute gameplay chasm between OoT and Witcher3.
I don't hate it, but it's definitely not perfect
The game is only "dated" because it was so vastly influential on games in development when it came out and after. It essentially created a form that was iterated upon by lots of other big players in the industry. Don't even bother trying to deny this. Tons of game devs have said as much.
they're remarkably similar
fable was the oot of 6th gen
witcher 3 of 7th gen
It's as close to perfect as you can get.
except you can complete w3 in a comatose state. i'm wondering what innovation or influence w3 would have on any future games.
>Generation Alpha
Please stop using this term. I’m a late 90’s zoomer and you’re making me feel old.
I loved this game growing up, but the gameplay doesn't hold up nowadays. It's mostly walking back and forth while smashing A to roll to stave off boredom. The combat for all bosses is as follows ; Wait, Wait, Wait, slash. Awesome game but this guys right.
on easy you can cookie clicker, but on death march you gotta prepare oils and dodge
That's their name though.
Because N64 games didn't age well. Kill yourself.
