You can tell it suffered from time constraints and cut content though. Only Blue Lions route felt complete and the Kingdom and its characters seem to have gotten disproportionate attention. It would be nice to see if all the routes were fully fleshed out.

Hopefully the success will let them be more ambitious in the next games and hopefully have more time/budget.

Is their a leap in difficulty anons? Finished the battle of the houses in ch 1 last night and fucking stomped it, I picked ‘normal’ difficulty because I’ve never played a fire emblem, whilst I’m enjoying the hell out it, Last few battles have been cake walks and I’m hoping that won’t be the case for the remaining parts of the game.

the balancing is pretty off
normal mode is basically easy mode, while hard mode is normal
maddening on the other hand feels like a puzzle game at times and is hardest in the first few chapters, and then gets easier once you give your characters broken builds

Np, especially not on normal difficulty. The difficulty names are dumb. "Normal" should be called easy and "Hard" should be called normal. You unlock harder difficulties after you beat the game.

Since it doesn't sound like you're very far yet, I recommend you restart and play on hard. Normal difficulty is for kids and people that have never played any sort of strategy game before.

You should always play modern FE on at least hard. Normal is genuinely for the mentally disabled and will challenge no one who has any basic experience in the genre at all.

I would recommend a restart if you're not too far in. Hard is ok for a first run.

It has a problem with difficulty where hard is honestly a bit on the easy side once people are decent at the game while the next step up in difficulty just requires retarded min/maxing and is the extreme other end.

Not gonna lie. I enjoyed Three houses. It was a huge step up from Fates, but damn the monastery sections are a huge slog.

Either AM or SS honestly. It's difficult to say which was the main vision for the game. We know SS was done first but it is also one of the most incomplete and like VW spends a lot of time messing around with ancillary stuff and has little to do with the main conflict of the game, giving it an 'extra side story for second playthroughs' kind of feeling to it.

I would have said the 'main' routes in terms of their content would have been AM and CF, but CF is so obviously unfinished that yeah I suppose it must be AM. There's so much more attention on all the BL characters and Dimitri is so strongly positioned in a protagonist position that he basically has to be killed off because as long as he's alive there's no realistic way that the story can center on anyone else - Claude/Rhea simply don't have the same relevance to Edelgard or connection to the main conflict of the game. Rhea could have if the church was more developed, but it isn't.

It has its problems but it also fixed a lot of problems that were introduced to the series in Awakening and Fates. It's not a perfect game but they clearly tried and did some things well, and I think it's right for people to be positive about it.

it's kinda tedious desu, the base game doesn't have enough interesting class variety late game. The story is interesting until really dumb cliche stuff happens to ruin it every so often.

It's a fun game but has some decent-sized flaws.

it introduced far bigger problems if anything while removing the weapon triangle
the biggest ones being the insane amount of recycled content, the tedium of the monestery, warp recharges between every map and avoid being so overpowered.

The weapon triangle isn't even that great, why do gbafags jerk it off so much? Even then maddening sort of returns the weapons triangle anywhere since enemies consistently have -breaker skills on it.

Put it on hard, normal is a joke. It starts getting really easy towards the end of part 1 but the difficulty picks up again in part 2.

it's so fucking laughable that you bring up maddening since you don't have access to breaker skills yourself until B ranks. it's also an admission on the dev's part at the utter lack of depth in 3h's encounters.

The game would have benefited from fewer routes. Dropping SS and VW and integrating their content into AM and CF would have improved the game tremendously. The main narrative weight of the story is the war, and the routes that sideline that story in favor of the mole people and/or King Grug don’t have much justification for their existence.
