Ask any minority if they think the same way as every other minority they share a race with. Imply that if I know one of them that I know all of them. If they resist this assertion then ask whether representation is whether someone looks like them, or whether someone feels the same way as them and shares their goals or experiences. If they acknowledge that actual representation has nothing to do with race, then ask them why the fuck they act like what a character looks like in a game is what matters when it comes to representation.
The fact is these mongrels don't empathize or relate to protagonists in media because protagonists in media are typically noble, self-sacrificing, honorable, competent, intelligent, and attractive. If they don't relate to these characters and get upset that they're not represented in media it's because they don't share any of those traits.

When playing RPG's I want all my characters to share certain traits of mine and always will pick that if I can. If I make a demon or whatever, I still want him to look like me. I don't want to play a game as a dog. Most people think this way. The reason most characters are white dudes is because the game is mostly played by white dudes. If I play the game I sometimes quit if I can't be a black dude and it has a character creator or selector, with certain exceptions obviously, so it makes perfect sense most people want to be somebody who looks like them.
