7
11 is a good entry level game if you haven't played DQ or a JRPG before
If you have then 5 and 7 are great to
11 is modern and p good
Shouldn't be anywhere near JRPGs or video games in general
DQ8
I only ever see 5, 8, and 11 shilled as good entry level DQ games, so those I guess.
This
None. DQ is about atmosphere. It focuses on being comfy and excludes anything that would get in the way of that, like character drama or plot complexity
8, western PS2 version. Don't fall for other memes.
Literally any of them except 1, 2, or 3.
3's one of the best games in the series though so it'd be a shame if you didn't eventually play it.

Lots of people say that it's their favourite and DQ games are easy enough for any of them to be an entry, but 5 is completely unlike any other DQ. Also you wouldn't be able to appreciate how it fucks with the formula if you haven't played a conventional DQ game before, preferably 4.
Id say give 6 a chance
Play 11 and 8 first then play 5 later. 5 is the best one.
At least it's not 7.
Are DQ 4, 5, and 6 on DS a good starting point? I heard they are a related trilogy and some of the best in the series if you play them together.
4 or 5
yes that's a good starting point and they are part of a trilogy that you should play together
Definitely yes! People say play 4 on phone for party chat, but honestly I played 4 on DS and it didnt ruin my experience
11 has the most focus on story and characters.
5
This guy is right, 5 is really good but I don't think you should play it first.
Any. If you've played one, you've played them all.
Yeah, sure.
4 on mobile is actually the best version, since it's just the DS version but with party chat (which was removed from the western DS version for no clear reason).
6 is the black sheep of that trilogy though, they really fucked up the vocation system from 3 in it.
But at least it's not 7, playing that one really made me appreciate 6 more.
5 or 8.
11 or 5. Maybe 6 kinda, it has fun character related stuff due to it's dream world gimmick.

Considered to have the best plot, it's got an interesting monster taming aspect.
>6
A lot of people think this one is too generic, but it's also got two large worlds to explore. It retains some of the monster-collecting of 5 but focuses on its main cast more.
>7
By far the longest game, where you piece together the world by rescuing towns from their untimely disappearances. VERY slow start, and even slower to get to the meat and potatoes of the gameplay, but also has a great sense of adventure. I personally prefer the ps1 version, but the 3DS version is better balanced and the dialogue is at least a bit more polished.
>8
A grand adventure with a small cast. Introduced the skill point system later games used. Keeps a better pace than 7, with you joining the adventure "in media res". 3DS version adds some real enhancements that make the game more enjoyable.

My personal favourite in the series. All your heroes are custom characters made by you, and the skill point system is merged with a class system that can keep you playing a long, long time. You must emulate it these days, and many will say the story and characters are weak, but the quests and character building are just so excellent.

I liked it, but it also felt like a downgrade from 8. It merges 8's fixed characters with a bit of a "licence board" aspect from FF12. However, for me, there were too many cutscenes and many of the areas are linear and a little small, without much of interest in them. It honestly felt more like Final Fantasy X. Still, it's solid all-around, and there is lots of game to experience.
4. Everything people love about the DQ series is in it (5 is the best, but more unique than the rest).
It's full of great characters, even the way the story is told is unique for a JRPG (you play every character before they meet, so you have a real bond with the whole party).
It's even recommanded by the creator of the series to start with this one.
Also, based Torneko.
11, 5, 8.
Worst DQ.
I literally burned myself from the DQ series because of this one.
What a shit boring ass game, holy shit.
VIII Definitive on Steam fucking when???
