Please tell me theres a solution to this, also is there a way to use the mouse like in DMC 5? I'm not used to full keyboard and it feels odd. Skipping to DMC 4 until I can find a solution, hopefully thats better.

Jesus, using keyboard worked just fine in dmc 5 but I guess that doesn't apply to these since they're ports. Guess I'm fucked then, what about 4 though, is it playable with mouse and keyboard and does it have any of those issues?

4 should be good enough, it's not part of the collection. The port is also known for being godlike since it works on every toaster.

in the future dont expect diddily squat from capcom's ports. they're terrible. at least this one. it has many missing effects and graphics errors along with terrible pc options. i would just recommend getting a controller if it straight up doesnt work. you can look a mod called ddmk that might have a solution for you but i havent checked. its basically a requirement when you get the hd collection on pc. fixes so much.

pcsx2 is the best emulator for the ps2. it would have the benefit of being the most complete versions of their games with zero missing effects. you have to tweak with the settings to get a satisfying game. the keyboard settings seem robust but ive never tried them myself.

I actually played half of 3 on keyboard last week and it's not bad at all. It's not much different than a controller outside of directionals feeling a bit clumsy at weird angles but you get used to it. Can't help you with those weird ass problems because i never had any despite playing over 200 hours, outside of graphical shit in 1 the HD Collection ports are pretty good actually. It's only true crime to me being the forced xbox prompts.
