Cortex's schemes were never really serious its just that Clancy Brown's voice is intimidating and hes a much better VA than Lex Lang. Cortex is supposed to be like Brain from Animaniacs a diminutive genius with a serious, commanding voice, intellect and with plots to take over the world but always falling short of these plans either due to circumstance or overlooking a crucial flaw. You get rid of Lex Lang and beg Clancy to return and you may get a better Cortex but the problem is hes too ingrained into the franchise especially with all the shitheads who started the Crash franchise with Twinsanity or Radical.

I want to say goofy because Twinsanity was my favorite iteration of him. However, I'm hesitant because Crash 4 Cortex is goofy but also the most unfunny and annoying Cortex to date.
