It's strange to think that, in much the same way so much of the previous generation grew up furries due to exposure to anthro girls, the current generation is going to be into a lot of freaky Minecraft shit. Literally every single artist or animation had fucked up or weird shit in his sleeve. This one is pretty tame and as the other user pointed out, if the artist was ok with it, who cares?

You might be surprised the situation you described is the norm, not the exception. Most artist work on stuff they don't see that improtant and then do their own thing on the side.
It comes with the creative package, what you trully enjoy will rarely be commercially viable. If you're into art medium for fame, prestige or legacy, you better move somewhere else. You're in for a dissappointemnt.
