The game changes after this, its an intermission for when the game changes from a jungle to a more open military base kinda location. After the long end fight it's a rest for your mind. In the mountains you use different camo and your stats drain differently. Its soul to the max and Kojima hasn't and can't, replicate how much soul this moment has. Rare game can.

There's always a few long ones in Souls games. The one I'm talking about in DS3 is in the Ariandel DLC, there's a ladder from the bottomest area where you fight the grave warden + wolf up to the cliffs

The opening was the last thing added to the game. I remember reading this in a interview that said the whole opening sequence was made by a outside designer(Kyle Cooper btw) and that he was running late with it between the song choice and opening design.
