It's a platform fighter. Smaller and more agile characters will always have the advantage.
That being said DK should have a rolling barrel projectile as a side special both as a buff and to better represent the character
>develop fighting game
>dont include best of 3 game mode
>cheese reigns
...what?
A lot of Ridley's ingame data directly references Charizard data circa Brawl. People who joked he would just be purple Charizard were right in the end.
Explain, what is best of 3 mode
This sounds like bait, none of his moves look the same.
He was great in Smash 4 you dunce. They just made his recovery god awful in Ultimate and with the different mechanics that's a huge problem. Heavies can still work in Ultimate (see Bowser).
Do you not understand fighting games? If you play a single match and that's it it's not fair. The reason tournaments don't do single matches that decide everything is so scummy cheese strategies that give immediate advantage don't reign supreme. Smash doesn't bother with that because it's worse than Shaq Fu.
You mean the unused gliding data? The sole thing that links them together? Dumb nigger
Bowser can work, the rest of the heavies all suck. Even Banjo is heavy as shit with a wide toolbox but he's only mid tier. The fact that Bowser is the only heavy who sees consistent success, and it's due to him ignoring small attacks and having max weight, says volumes.
>Fans complain about the clone problem in smash bros
>Address it by calling them echo's instead and that any character who shares the same model as another already in-game will have a more likely chance of getting but as a reskin
>Fans, instead of getting upset that their pick will likely just be a clone in the foreseeable future instead were hyped that they'd get anything at all
>Fans complain about a lack of sword because Ganon was just a Captain Falcon clone for so long
>Give him another characters moveset with said sword and call it a day
>Fans lap it up
why would ridley have that if he wasnt literally based on charizard
Being "fine" or "balanced" in Smash is basically the same as low tier. Top tiers are top tiers because they're not either.
I'd rather it be his up special personally, but good either regardless
I'd still like to see an actual 3v3 mode where you can swap characters on the fly like MvC or DBFZ. Just map the command to swap like shield + left or right on the d pad and it could work just fine. Special Smash is fun but not quite it.
DK is terrible, and loses most matchups against top- and high-tier characters. He's not unusable, but he still has the same weaknesses he's had for over 2 decades and several Smash games
>big target
>bad recovery
>doesn't hit all that hard for a "heavy"
>characters I find interesting or remember from my childhood arent any good
>characters who look identical but wear different tunics are all borderline overpowered
I either play Captain Falcon or lose, its bullshit
That doesn’t make him based on Zard, retard. You might’ve had a case if literally anything else in the moveset was similar but they barely resemble each other beyond dashing speed and an unused gliding mechanic.
>Complete bitch complains that all 80-some characters aren't S-tier threats
name any 2 characters who share data in this way
>Hmm, a gliding move for Ridley would be pretty cool since it's a lot like a common attack of his in his original series
>I know, we already worked on this for Charizard way back when, dig that out and we can save some time by working from there
and somehow this equates to "literally based on charizard"?
>Yoshi
>Rob
>Samus
>Charizard
>Ken/Ryu
>Megaman
>Wario
>Snake
>Link
all heavy and viable
>Melee clones
>different attributes, damage, knockback, combos, frame data, hitboxes, etc. from their parent character
>everyone hates them
>Ult echoes
>all but Ken are glorified costumes or they have one noticeable difference
>everyone loves them
Just main a broken top tier and play the other characters you like for fun. I've done it for years and it works well.
>Hmm well Luigi is slightly above average weight, therefore he's a heavy
Heavies can work well on small stages but hardcore compfags are even more scared of them than of showers, see Warioware and Castle siege
It's unironically a big reason why heavies do poorly in comp, big stages like pokestadium 2 allow fast character to zoom all over the place while ranged one have all the space they need, meanwhile heavy have none of these adventages and will have an hard time breaking neutral
Only real heavy here is Charizard, with Snake, Wario, Yoshi and Ken/Ryu being hybrids
It's easier to swallow clones when the developer acknowledges that they didn't take near as much time as a full fighter in-game. Half of Melee's newcomers being clones who just existed to pad out the roster is what draws their ire.
Ridley is the most solid mid tier in the game. He is miles above DK and Gannon
>flying creature is at his worst when stuck in the air or offstage
>despite zooming around in his win animations he has incredibly slow move speed and attack speed
>largest hurtbox in the game yet no weight to survive a basic combo
You cant tell me Sakurai didnt say to himself "lets make Ridley really bad so I look right in the end"
I dont think I have seen a single competitive Ridley game where he wasn't immediately locked into a 0 to death combo the second he fell into disadvantage state. Then when he has advantage he can barely maintain it.
none of you are competitive players, so why does competitive smash fucking matter to you? just play the fucking game and quit bitching about "muh tiers" and "muh viability"
DK could use some slight buffs, but that's about it. He's borderline too much and could be broken. Same with the design of many characters.
>Character gets gradual buffs to the extent that he can shit out 53% or kill off of jab
>No one complains because inputs are "hard"
based
Why would you not care about tiers? An easy to use overpowered character is still all of those things at a level below the top 1%.
Ridley is mid tier.
What sort of cheese are you referring to though, thats what Im asking
Why? You're being disingenuous.
>A lot of Ridley's ingame data directly references Charizard data circa Brawl!
>literally just his glide animation
>b-but that totally means he's 100% based on him!
retard
Because we're still playing the game, you stupid nigger.
the funny thing is that they're only "hard" cause of the awful buffer system. If the right people would invest more time in Ken and Ryu everyone would complain about them.
He's braindead
84% in 2 interactions , now matter which is the first contact
I hope they nerf him, he is the 2nd most "carried" character by online and a masher by nature
Meta knight and pit can glide too
Actually steves up-b is literally the same glide too
>dash
>unused glide
>backair
>up-tilt
ridley is a borderline model swap of charizard
>slow move speed
You haven't played Ridley if you think any of his movement state are poor aside form aerial speed.
>attack speed
His frame data is perfectly fine dude.
>largest hurtbox in the game yet no weight to survive a basic combo
His weight is still above average.
Ridley isn't even bad, he's just the definition of "alright". He has clearly defined strengths and weaknesses, its just that you need a bit more than that to be really viable in Smash
He is very fun, but his up B sucks in terms of damage and recovery, and his down B is a joke move.
>Kirby is canonically the strongest character power-level wise in the entire roster
>He's low tier
Explain
You've seen people play Ridley competitively? Where?
because i'm not playing this game for a paycheck. i don't care about where a character sits on a fucking tier list, i care about how much enjoyment i get from playing them. i know incineroar is trash, but he's fucking hilarious and satisfying to use. quit being a tier whore and enjoy the game.
crying about how ridley and dk aren't "good enough" doesn't sound like playing the game to me. unless you are entering tournaments and playing for money, shut the fuck up, pick a character you like and stop being a sperg
It's dangerous to edgeguard with the shotos purely because the input for tatsu ends up being buffered by holding back to recover.
