All video game difficulty is artificial.
Crash 4 follows a trend I've noticed with the original trilogy where it's good fun unless you try to go for all of the crates, then it becomes an unfun nightmare of a game

-get hit because of your own sloppy play
-continue with level and grab all collectibles
-beat it and go to next level
>artificial difficulty
-get hit by something off screen or something that blends with the environment
-die and need to restart a large segment of the level or all of it
-locked out of 100% completion of level unless you restart any way
-beat it right after so many tries
-now do it again under a time limit
>get hit because of your own sloppy play

In no way is the original trilogy an unfun 100%. The levels have the perfect length and every box is well telegraphed without any bullshit. Crash 4 is a borderline romhack that expects you to smash hundreds of boxes per level in ridiculously long levels with a lot of them hidden in completely bullshit places no one could possibly know without a guide. It does not surprise me at all that it was designed by trannies considering they would be the only ones with that level of autism required to enjoy the slog.

Yeah I guess this is more of a to each their own kind of thing since I just did not have fun with Crash 2 when I was aiming for all the gems but really enjoyed just running through it casually; however, I'll completely agree that 4 is much much worse when it comes to how annoying getting every crate in a level is.
Poor word choice on my part. What I meant to convey was that regular difficulty finds fault in the player. Artificial difficulty finds fault in the system (cheating AI, bad camera, wonky controls, etc.)
It's painfully clear no child is getting this far into the game.

As a fan that likes all 4 games no Crash 4's hidden crates are what make it so annoying to 100% compared to 1-3. The difficulty through 1-3 came from gem and death routes.

Yeah man I love painstakingly scouring the entire level for every single hidden off camera box and pixel perfect bonus levels only to miss a single one right at the end of an auto scrolling section at the end of the fucking level.

What shits me about the relics is that they couldn't just have speeding through the level with the existing layout be the challenge. They had to put in random TNTs and Nitros just to fuck with the player. The entire game feels like it was designed by autistic speed runners looking to fuck with people.
