It probably won't.
Even ignoring how typically insular Nintendo is, BotW2 is just too far alone in production for something like Genshin to make an impact.
And what would Nintendo really take from it? Oh we should have more colorful visuals? That was obvious long before Genshin came out, lol. Just compare WW HD with BotW, both Wii U games, and see which one is more vibrant.

Majora's Mask already let you become other characters. And Breath of the Wild had you play alongside a variety of companions.
Wind Waker too had you play as two other characters even if it was just for a little while.

Link is still the protagonist. He is still the hero. The others are just along for the ride.

Having played both, I can't see Genshin cutting into BOTW2's sales, pretty much everyone who bought BOTW will get it as long as it is on Switch and not some new console. Genshin is an admittedly fun game to play when there is nothing else out but I'm going to be dropping it when BOTW2 hits retail. One thing I do hope Nintendo improve upon is the towns, the Genshin towns are much larger and more intricate than the "towns" in BOTW.

But that really is not what I wanted. If it was just Zelda the whole game I'd be pretty upset, and if it was just Link and Zelda I'd still be disappointed.
I want multiple playable characters. Several. And the fact that the champions in BotW weren't playable was a huge flaw in my eyes.

BOTW is a console exclusive with DLC.

So look at it this way. I'm AR38 in Genshin Impact, haven't paid a cent and I have nearly half of the characters in the game. I just installed it on PC and mobile, platforms pretty much everyone has. The game is coming to Switch and it's on PS4 too.

If I wanted to play BOTW I would have to buy a Switch, buy the game, buy the DLC, and if I wanted all the Amiibo exclusive items I would have to spend how much for all that again? And then I would have to load them up with a chance of them spawning jack fucking shit "better luck next time".

Overall BOTW is much more of a scam unless you have a gambling addiction, and even then GI is giving you value because gambling is fun.
