Why does Zig Forums hate cave story + so much?

Nah the combats a tad different and a lot of the puzzles are different, like how you have to use a different weapon for each form of the final boss in the original.

I fucked up I read Cave Story instead of La-Mulana. Yeah, they are both very different and great

I respect the original dev but I don't see the remake as unreasonable. it's impossible to remake a game and keep an MSX aesthetic, how are you supposed to make better sprites and music if changing the art in any way betrays the style the original was going for?

La-Mulana's remake is fantastic and it changes things so much that I feel both versions are equally interesting to play. Gotta live with your time, a lot of people don't get the MSX references but they shouldn't have to miss what is essentially a cornerstone of the medium due to it.
Still, these three games and their remakes are solid.

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it user. I had the best of times with it but I think there's something of a mindset to be into in order to enjoy that type of game. Taking notes was crucial to advancing in the ruins and there was no better feeling than solving a difficult riddle in it.
I understand that it's not everyone's plate of curry.

CS+ music had been converted wrong. they somehow didn't even check that the instruments were all off, for some songs the drum track was entirely missing

many sprites were just upscaled with no regards to the original intent
the shide around the big rock that blocks the tunnel were redrawn as white squiggles because they don't know/don't care

some of these things were fixed, for me the damage was done
