How do I git gud at this Zig Forums? I've been playing on and off since the last sale and even though it's fun, having a shit level and being unable to properly customize my stuff gets a bit boring considering I'm just picking default classes and being decapitated by level 150 niggas more often than not, which results in me leveling up really fucking slowly.

It takes alot of playing to get used to the mechanics and training your eyes to see when to parry. Also the level system only depends on how long you've played, not how many kills you get.

Always start an attack when they start an attack

Find someone willing to teach you and practise with them, watch youtube guides, just try to have fun

one thing that keeps annoying me is that I get attacked, I parry it, then I attack them and they parry me, but if they're the ones parrying me first I'm almost always eating their attack, I imagine depending on the armor you're wearing, weapon you're using etc you're faster or slower but it happens to me with almost all the default classes.

When an enemy attacks, don't block until you hear their grunting, otherwise you're gonna get feinted

This is the worst advice you can give. Accelerated swings combined with latency mean you get hit as soon as or even after you hear the grunt.

Animations in this game are so fucky, against good players you can't tell when they're just twirling in place like retards and when they're actually swinging.

You have to stop using 240 and start using keybinds.

The only thing you have to learn is reflexes to counter enemy feinting. Also playing anything else other than invasion is pure autism, don't go that path

using your mouse to change direction of attack instead of buttons to attack from different angles

850h git gud learning curve

1- Pick one weapon and just git gud with that, don't bother trying to be proficient with multiple weapons. Personally I would choose the longsword, greatsword, or eveningstar. The maul, heavy hand axe, and other meme weapons will get you loads of easy kills, but you will hit a wall when you go up against actually good players when using these weapons.

2- Unironically use the training sword online, it's shit and you can't even kill the dumbest retards with it, but because of that you focus more on blocking, parrying, chambering, and surviving fights. That's not to say don't hit enemies with the training sword, play with it like you would a regular weapon but focus on staying alive the longest you can.

3- Optimize your armour; 3,3,3 armour will cause you to be slow as fuck and you don't need all of it. I usually run a 2,3,2 or a 2,3,1 loadout, but experiment around with armour combinations to see what works best for you.

Do all of that, and also focus on practicing drags and accels, you can find a legion of videos on youtube detailing these + how to git gud at them.

Learn all the mechanics (parry, riposte, chamber, morph, feint and swing manipulation) and learn to pull them consistently. Then play on duel servers, you'll find some people on your level and sometimes those level 150 niggas will actually pull up training swords and help you.

Also, start with basic bitch longsword and soon you'll be gravitating towards the weapon that best fits your playstyle.
