where's my fellow masters of stretegy
Total war thread
>Masters of stretegy.
>Cavalry charge in back, decent melee units holding the front lines while archers shred.
>Masters.
Total War is disgusting easily.
also obligatory post your memes
delet this
also post your favourite total war, mine is Medieval 2. It was peak comfy
peak total war, brove me wrong
Man I still have the box stashed somewhere along with the kingdoms expansion packs. Man it sure was based ;) hopefully no one will prove me wrong
based, it's >literally impossible to prove me wrong
will Never Ever be proven wrong
My CD of Rome 1 has become unreadable for my drive. Probably degraded.
Oof, that happened to my rome 1 cd too. Shit got too old in a inhospitable area and one day it just stopped working :/ rip Rome total war gold edition™. I preferred the base game to Barbarian Invasion
>Cavalry
>Beeing useful un warhammer tw
That is literally what most battles used to be back then.
Instead you got monsters that are even easier to manage. Just select and left click two times. At least cavalry could be stopped by spearmen.
>Implying hammer and anvil wasn't a standard military tactic of ancient, medieval and renaissance armies.
15/16 archers/artillery
1 Lord + 3/4 heroes
i wish they would keep warhammer arcadey and go back to a medieval 2 style with the historical games, they are so fucking dumbed down now
dont even have to flank or do any tactics in the chink china game, just rightclick and watch near identical units mostpit and the battle ends after 2 minutes
nu TW is fucking horrifying
I found three kingdoms to be quite an improvement to be honest. Only thing that bothered me was the three generals per army.
>watch near identical units mostpit
Identical? How are spearmen with shield identical to dudes with big swords?
>not taking out artillery with cavalry, flanking units, drawing units away from the main battle, harassing enemy heroes
It's actually quite fun. Love me some vanguard deployment.
The AI is too stupid for me to enjoy this game. It's just not challenging in a good way. If you turn the difficulty up the enemy is still retarded but now it's units are magically better than yours
>complaining about cavalry
>not the ranged units
>not the magic
>not the maps
>not the campaign
You can't even call TW strategy or tactical game anymore
it would be better if the autoresolve didn't get all your vanguard units killed so reliably. It means if you have these lower tier units in your army you have to fight every battle or they just die.
I tried to replay it, but I can't go back, it feels like an antiquity
Fucking chad.
>2 handed units like billmen/zweihanders are useless due to their attack animations being cancelled by faster moving 1 handed animations
It was and still is best game though.
What are y'all's hopes for TWW3? Here's my wishlist:
>Fucking improve sieges goddamn, like having multiple layers of capture objectives like M2TW. Right now you can just bust through a corner and win. It's stupid.
>Warriors of Chaos revamp
>Ogres
>Daemons of Chaos factions
>Chaos Dwarves
>Kislev
>Beastmen revamp if it doesn't happen in the next DLC
>Improved diplomacy
>Make cavalry not shit again
>Rework shitty, expensive units like giants to make them playable
>Nerf archers, buff infantry and cavalry
>Rework some of the weaker magic trees to make them more viable.
swarm armies have more than a 20 unit limit/ waaagh armies can be deployed with the main army and not enter in like a reinforcing army
Attilla is underrated desu
Whats do you think is gonna historical TW
I like alot of those ideas.
> Add region trading
> Expand the map to the east
> Get 2 - 3 dlc factions similar numbers to 1 but having the quality of the Tomb Kings and Vampire Coast.
> Norsca update, addional units and lords
> Fix the siege gate glitch
> Add Neferta as the Warhammer 3 VC lord
> Dwarf update, a proper rework similar to Empire.
I think CA nowadays are so mainstream oriented they aren't going to take any risks with their next historic title and will do Medieval III. Empire II would be too 'problematic' because of colonialism and any other era like Renaissance would be too niche to be considered.
Three Kingdoms isn't risky?
>bank off chink market
>bank off Dynasty Warriors familiarity
Not particularly.
I’m torn between it and Shogun 2.
M2TW has better unit diversity and interesting starts, the Combat engine is better too with individual people all having their own health (though shogun 2 might have had that too, not sure if that was changed in empire, or if it started with warhammer, lmk)
Not even mentioning the mods.
But from a pure gameplay perspective, shogun 2 controls far better and has a better UI, guns work well and you can actually see their range, not just make an educated guess like in M2TW.
You also can play with a wholly medieval army, or play in a Napoleonic army all in the same game.
If we had M3TW with the shogun 2 version of the warscape engine, that would probably be the absolute peak total war.
With the current engine and it’s unit health system, it’ll suck, plus won’t be modable like M2TW was.
>Attilla is underrated desu
It is, though I wish it was better optimized. I’d play it far more if I didn’t have to sit through 45 FPS with drops to 15 when fires get lit
