How come the games aged so poorly?
How come the games aged so poorly?
They didn't. SM64 and Ocarina are still highly enjoyable, timeless masterpieces to this day, and the graphics unironically look better than PS1's jaggy mess.
Gonna be honest, all the memes about early games with bad cameras, awkward controls only seems to apply to N64 games. PS1 games look better, control logically and often have modern control schemes. Dare I say, they look better too.
The N64 just hasn't aged well.
Oot aged like fucking milk, it sucks compared to every 3d zelda that came after except TP
Some have definitely but I think some games like Mario 64, Banjo Rocket Robot on wheels, while showing signs of ages, still hold up quite well.
Crash Bandicoot plays much better than them.
Both consoles aged terribly if you didn't grow up with them. If you think one seems better than the other one, it's just that you're accustomed to the shittiness of it.
Sounds like we got a zoomer here boys, such a shame your first console was a 360 when you were 7.
But I'm still right.
Well because it was the first attempt at 3d, along with the games being made on cartridges rather than CD technology where they would have been able to pack so much more in each game.
And for what, no load times? A missed opportunity from Nintendo there.
Play Gex 2, Rayman 2, Glover and Croc on PS1. PS1 had great games but way worse cameras.
N64 wasn't perfect but it was definitely a step in the right direction regarding camera controls.
Which of the six or seven games?
Nintendo definitely realized they had messed up on their end too, as evidenced by their attemtps to get the 64DD out as soon after launch as possible to keep developers they lost on board
5th gen was the jump from 2d to 3d was revolutionary at the time but hasnt aged all that well
6th gen was the sweet spot in 3d graphics, the vast majority of titles still look fine today
They didnt. Its the fucking playstation that has ugly, shitty graphics
Because they were made for toddlers. You just grew up.
>nintendo
>going bankrupt
>PS1 games look better, control logically and often have modern control schemes. Dare I say, they look better too.
*laughs in Mega Man Legends*
Nope. You're wrong.
Crash is mediocre at best. Felt like it wanted to be a 3D platformer but was too scared to be open and stuck to corridor paths instead. Spyro was way better.
OoT was never good.
He's right, though.
t. first console was an NES
zoomzoom
>OoT cultists
>Focus on graphics and anti-aliasing basically cutting the frame rate in half.
>Focus on 3D games despite only having a single analog stick.
What you end up with are games with poor performance and wonky controls/camera. Super Mario 64 is good in spite of this, not because of it.
they didn't "age," they were already shit at the time.
Technical issues. The game design itself was great for first attempts at 3d.
you realise this console failed massivly and was a bigger failure than the Vita. its just we was brainwashed by pokemon and nintendo propaganda to think it was legendary or of any value.
the n64 was fucking shit its name was even a cheap copy of the c64.
n64 was literally irrelevant trash that didnt sell at all we all just have one memmory of playing it at a party or sleep over.
or department store during pokemania etc.
You've never played a PS1 game before DualShock came out did you?
Early days of 3d vidya, it's like saying why has 1890's cinema aged so poorly. The conventions were still being hashed out, still Blast Corps is as fun and fucking frustrating now as it was then.
Literally it's the best reviewed game ever. Highly regarded across the industry. Ground breaking 3d design. Z targeting. Etc
Get your head out of your ass.

The industry wasn’t full of SJW’s and trannies back then
