If Sonic were to NEVER exist, what would change in vidya?
If Sonic were to NEVER exist, what would change in vidya?
everything
This poor boy might have had a decent life
It would be better
He wouldn't have. CWC's autism was always more focused on Pokemon than he was Sonic, and he was doomed to a shitty home life. If Blue Arms didn't set him off, it would have been Pikachu's redesign in Detective Pikachu
Nintendo would have been lazy in their design earlier on, leading them to slump soon rather than later after SEGAS demise. SEGA/SONIC was Nintendo's only real competition ever
Mario wouldn't have had so much competition so nintendo wouldn't have tried as hard as they did and the mario games would probably be different and maybe not as good.
>SEGA was Nintendo's only real competition EVER
and it's true
microsoft and sony are not competition to them
I would probably be less of a degenerate.
I wouldn't be on Zig Forums and I wouldn't be playing video games. I never considered making video games a hobby until I played the Sonic games on Genesis. In actuality, the combination of Sonic 3 and Mario 64 were what solidified video games as something I'd end up being invested in for what is decades now. I'm falling out of games now though and have no intention of buying any new console (I also don't have a Swith), but I wouldn't have gotten this far if Sonic hadn't existed.
I'd likely be doing something like PC technician and little electronic DIY stuff. Just something to do with building and tinkering. Admittedly, I'd probably have gone into choreography and dabbled on eurobeat and new jack swing like music creation.
Absolutely nothing except Smash would be marginally better. Also Deviant Art would probably go bankrupt.
>SEGA would have died completely in the early to mid 90s
>No Saturn
>No Dreamcast
>SEGA wouldn't even make 3rd party games for others
>No Yakuza
>No Persona
>No Total War
>No Jet Set Radio
>No NFL 2K series
Basically the industry would be way different.
Nice rebuttal. Dumbfuck.
Mommy Milana...
this probably would've been sega's mascot instead
I still maintain to this day that there WAS room for a big 4. Sony vs. Microsoft and SEGA vs. Nintendo. This would be been the best outcome in the best timeline.
Sega would've gone bankrupt and we would've never had Jet Set Radio, Yakuza, Super Monkey Ball, etc.
Which would have been the villian?
>SEGA/SONIC was Nintendo's only real competition ever
They were in competition with Sony during 5th and 6th gen, by 7th they did their own thing with the Wii
Tails would replace him.
Nintendo wasn't going to make a follow up to the NES until the Genesis' sales figures pushed them to make the SNES
If Nintendo had active competition today, I wonder how much their games would improve. It seems that the audience for Sony/Microsoft vs. Nintendo are almost entirely different demographics today. It's such a shame that Sega has so many recognizable and iconic IPs that they have just rotting in storage. I guess most people have moved on from them since they were mostly from an era of more arcade-like gameplay.
>it would have been Pikachu's redesign in Detective Pikachu
I feel like it would've been something earlier
Sonic not existing would have a bigger impact on furry porn than it would on videogames
>no Sonic means SEGA would have no blast processing or way past cool attitude
damn never thought about it like that
Love how you mention Jet Set Radio as if that franchise mattered at all.
game journalists would struggle to put bad scores
>no Sonic means no copycats/less "too cool for school" characters
fuck man, that's a chunk of my library right there
Stagnant Nintenjew console monopoly goes on to make Atari gen look like a goldenage. PC and Arcade gaming would probably still be good though.
Maybe Atari could take SEGA's place and not shit the bed? Probably not though.
