it does have a compressed and cruchy noise which is sharp. going to look if there is a short sound of it on youtube.
Especially with the tri beam you get this sound often

you can break the economy at level 1 by stealing weapons from the boomers and telling ed-e to repair them.

You can get 2000+ MF cells even before youget to Freeside, it's probably the easiest ammo to get.

Although to be fair it's why I always steered clear of Supermutant dungeons in Fallout 3 whenever I could and explored them only in my late game. Probably one of the only challenging enemies by that point. Overlords, albino scorps and reaver ghouls, perfect for my bottlecap mines
