Gamefreak is one of the least talented studios out there, but Pokemon's problems run a lot deeper than just Gamefreak.

but this gen showed that even hardcore pokemon fans don't care about that. they just cared about every pokemon being in. the game could've been just a single flat area with a single patch of grass in it, but as long as all pokemon spawned in that patch of grass, they would've been happy. they don't care about the actual adventure part of pokemon games.

You really expect them to put that much into the overworld when they couldn't put in all of the Pokemon? They created 721 Pokemon models from scratch in gen 6, and those 809 Pokemon from gen 7 just needed some polishing up. I'm not convinced they put in nearly the amount of work towards gen 8 that gen 6 had even with the DLC.

You can beat the game with just the free characters and F2P amount of rolls. Also, you don't even get anything for beating spiral abyss. I honestly believe that tier lists were invented and spread by the gacha industry themselves in order to push spending straight to the rarest characters. Ever wonder why any tier list that has a free character rated highly is quickly suppressed?

Wew. Good luck refining that. Max refined slingshot is pretty great for close range lock on attacks. I'd use her in combat more often but already have Lisa and Barbara as my two fighters and feel uneasy about spreading the levels out too much free to play.

When is the update and what is being added?
I want to play but it looks like there's not much content right now and the world might be empty. Don't want to install just to get bored quickly.

the gacha rates are fucking horrendous, but up front they give you a decent number of free rolls so unless you're an absolute lucklet you'll get some good characters
if you're only interested in the story/side quests and exploring the map you'll be perfectly fine without spending a penny
the story is fine but nothing amazing. the characters are enjoyable. the combat is pretty simple on the surface, but it's fun to mess with multiple characters
if you care about more than just the story it becomes pretty grind heavy and that's where they try and get those shekels from you
for reference on how awful the gacha is, it costs ~22 us dollars to do 10 pulls, and it's very likely that you'd get a bunch of worthless weapons and if you're lucky one character. it's fucking insane and if you're the kind of person who'd get suckered into spending shekels, stay the hell away. maybe in ~6 months when there are more regions they'll have made it a bit less jewish, but they're banking on whales right now

The majority of people that enjoy pokemon aren't video game people. It's a passive hobby where they enjoy movies, occasionally card games. They mostly buy the shirts to show off.

Pokemon has obviously ascended past video games. Feels more like the games are adaptions of the show more than a continuation of the video games.

It looks like that screenshot, the original stories did except for the opening cutscene and the scene where cheval's mom is killed, those where in full CG.

2 city + 2 towns or something more, however many more will be added in the future.

There are random houses/abandeond villages, 3 villages with quests, and lots of ruins.
