It's not the engine, it's problems with the way the devs use it and their insistence on using face scanned actors.
There are a few mods for RE2 for making Claire and Leon's faces look more like the characters are supposed to.

Now? I noticed uglier females in western media since the early 2000s. What disgusts me is the losers who enable this and go "Wow she has no breasts and is all ugly but she's beautiful!
