Are you guys kidding with genshin impact combat? It's exactly like your average Korean mmo where you mash one button waiting for your cinematic attack gauge to full up, it's only saving grace is character switching and those are still locked behind gambling. It doesn't have a lock on, a parry or block and no these mechanics locked behind gambling character exclusive does not makes them better. With all the numbers popping up and the rpg bloat gives it such a shallow feel.
Botw doesn't have the most complex combat,it's simple enough. But it gives you all the tools that you can pull off crazy stuff that a combat system like GI only dreams of.Instant gratification and watching numbers go up is one of the shittiest feature that rpgs graced the medium.
You can kill things by dodging and mashing I Just extremely slowly because that's a ridiculous way to do it
Combo elements lets you melt some enemies which you'll have to do as the world levels
Mason Thompson
can you idiots stop perpetuating this meme that chinese mmo is the same game as nintendo's masterpiece just because chinks partially stole visual design of environment?
Jordan Campbell
this is a trade off, using finite powerful weapons and arrows for maximum damage output when he could use something less expensive to get the job done
Jonathan Morris
honestly i could tell from gameplay videos alone that the game was shallow as fuck so i didnt even bother trying it out
Jayden Bell
she snapped her spine
Evan Kelly
I only wish there was some kind of jumping attack, there's one if you jump off something elevated but not one from the ground level.
Dylan Morgan
i agree launching attacks and air combos seem like they should have been part of the game
Dylan Gomez
w-wait, you cant even jump in the game? wtf shit, dropped
Jackson Brown
who said that? jumping just has no in combat purpose
Thomas Diaz
watch abyss videos while acknowledging you need 2 teams of 4
Easton Murphy
Xiao can attack in the air kind of but yeah, Jean especially feels like she should have air combos. I muscle memory tried to jump after an enemy after knocking them up, felt pretty lame when she did nothing.
Brody White
GI certainly isn't the deepest when it comes to combat, but you evidently never bothered to actually check on how it works. As for BotW by comparison, the combat goes literally nowhere. You have basically only three different weapons spread out over a bunch of skins, and none of them have any cleverness to their combat. What makes combat interesting is the approach you take with the tools on hand, by way of the Sheikah Slate. Which Genshin Impact decided to forego in favor of more direct combat, but evened out with elemental reactions.
But hey, at least my weapons don't break after cutting too many twigs.
Dylan Johnson
Keqings E can teleport her into the air so you drop in an air attack
Liam Watson
>ice characters can freeze water >geo hero can make blocks >Venti can make an upward gust to drop attack enemies >Klee can use bombs just missing a time mage and a motorbike, right?
Dominic Stewart
Start in Barbara, get everyone wet, switch to chongyun freeze everyone switch to fish superconduct everyone frozen switch to mc air pull everyone together back to barbara heal everyone to full health back to chong freeze back to fish repeat infinitely, nothing in the game survives and you never eat because barbars healed everyone to full health, its not super deep but its deeper than combat in botw and feels more satisfying than wow global cooldowns
Angel Sullivan
Your loss retard. And really it's 99% more likely you were biased against this game from the start. Don't pretend you gave it a fair chance because I'm pretty sure you didn't.
Jaxon Cooper
It might not be deep by RPG standard but BotW had three melee weapons, a bow, and bombs that dealt almost no damage. If you were lucky there was a rock nearby to roll at something, that was kinda exciting the first couple of times. The only enemies that were actually fun to fight were so spongey that they would break all your shit, actively discouraging you from trying to fight them.
Charles Cruz
I know weapon break gets a bad rap by rpgfags. but you can throw them and use them as a physical object in the world. Which GI also lacks. btw you also have arrows, boulders , boomerangs , foods and any manipulateble object in the world as your weapon. You can combine them in almost infinite number of possibilities to control the flow of battle how ever you want. It's like calling DMC's combat bad because enemies are easy to kill by button mashing in a efficient manner.
Liam Hill
>Gamble to get them Absolute state of Gachinks.
Jonathan Lee
> You can combine them in almost infinite number of possibilities to control the flow of battle how ever you want. This is such a gross overstatement it's laughable, it's gotta be bait right?
Anthony Anderson
You get one of each no matter what just from story quests dude.
Connor Howard
>you can throw them and use them as a physical object in the world. Which GI also lacks. I throw around firebirds and there's a geo waifu that shoots missiles. not to mention the archers.
>have to buy DLC for the bike >most of those characters I mention are free It's free to play, they have to make money somehow.
Noah Ortiz
All these elemental effect you talk about, botw also has them, just not locked behind gacha. And try to attack an frozen enemy with a thunder weapon, see what happens.
Jaxson Edwards
>Venti feets cringe >Paimon feets omega based
Asher Stewart
>Chink thinks buying is gambling. kys
Gabriel Young
>retard is putting words in my mouth stop sperging
Tyler Parker
>you have melee and ranged attacks >you can eat food to heal >INFINITE POSSIBILITIES TO CONTROL THE BATTLE
Please play more games.
Blake Nguyen
get back to me when this guy can throw his sword to ignite an area outside his range. or drop it from a cliff to light the area below.
Easton Myers
Nigger, i was talking about food as objects not consumables like in RPGs. remeber yiga clan and bananas, yeah
Robert Johnson
Ya know that's fair. That stealth segment was one of the only good parts of that whole game.
Jason Ross
Pretty much. But throwing your weapon isn't exactly a good mechanic, but more of a testament to how disposable and worthless weapons are. Genshin, by contrast, puts heavy emphasis on creating builds through its weapon and artifact equipment and the multitude of perks to play with. It's still a very rypical RPG system and has been done better by many Roguelites, but it serves as foundation to support what you work for.
BotW is less focused on straight combat, instead offering a toolbox of alternatives. Be it stealth, physics, or time manipulation, just try shit and see what works. And that's what saves the game from being a boring mess. Finding ways to avoid direct combat, with shitty combos, breaking weapons, and copy-pasted enemies is the best thing you can do to get rid of pesky mobs.
Liam Collins
The bird ignites whatever it hits, you can't drop it but that's dumb anyway. Like that other user said, this game generally trades those gimmicks for straight combat and party synergy + character switching.
>decide to try the game >really cringe voice acting >60 fps >console FOV >terrible camera control >very limited options and bad translations uninstalled before even getting to combat
Zachary Young
I still haven't found a good combat encounter in GI. Its just spamming correct element combo over and over. And level gating is extremely shitty. You cant take on bosses at low level at all.
Isaiah Brown
I want mc to wield books. I'm not a swords guy
Dylan Price
BUT GUYS BOTW HAS CLUNKY PROPKILLS THAT TOTALLY MAKES UP FOR THE FACT IT DOESN'T HAVE ACTUAL COMBAT
Camden Cox
you're talking out of your ass a huge criticism of the game is the lock on which you cant turn off
